Montreal trip advice

My hubby and I are planning a get away to Montreal November 3-5 and are looking to do it frugally. Can anyone give me advice on where would be the best area to stay? Good, clean, hotels that are reasonable? Packages that may be available? Even places to visit while we're there would be appreciated. Thanks so much! RRES

Anytime we're going away somewhere, we check out www.tripadvisor.com for advice on accommodations, attractions, etc. For deals, we check out www.travelzoo.com (there is also a Canadian version at www.travelzoo.ca). Every Wednesday, they publish their Top 20 deals. We were in Montreal for a weekend in July and scored an awesome deal via the Travelzoo for that weekend. Have a good trip!
