The Air Miles for my BMO Gold Mastercard usually post a day or two after my statement date. There are some bonus miles - Alamo / National Car Rental - that I see a day or two after the charge appears.

I debated using Air Miles for the flight.. but did in the end. 3713 Air Miles / $130 in taxes/fees.

I have a Gold MC and a Platinum Amex card for the sole purpose of obtaining air miles (and of course the 25% off at Air Miles flights for having the Gold MC). Watch the air miles site for signing up for the Amex card. Right now they offer 500 air miles for signing up but if you watch the site, every so often they offer 1000 for signing up! I only use my Amex card when shopping at an air mile sponsored store (such as Safeway, Shell). If you do that you will get 1 air mile for every $10 as opposed to every $15! I pay ALL bills on these cards to get the air miles......all shopping, phone bill, hydro bill, house insurance, vehicle insurance, property tax, etc., etc. Those big payment bills really rack up the air miles quickly!
