Short answer: yes (just ask your cashier to scan both):

Thanks, just checked my junk email and saw the AirMiles one.

It would seem to me that this would only work if they have different PLU numbers. However, I assume they're the same PLU.

Often I've had products where the flyer has them as an AM special and I have a second coupon with AMs also and both were credited.

One I remember in the past was B2G50 on batteries and a "WE Care" booklet that had a B2G40" coupon. I used the coupon nd got 90 AMs.

If you're referring to the reference to the B$100G100 on p.1 and the B$40G100 on P&G products they should be combinable. So if you spent $100 and $40 of it was on P&G products you should get 200 AMs.

What I suspect though is if you buy $80 worth of P&G you'd still only get 100AMs not 2 x 100 AMs.. (I haven't read the small print on it though).

Also, before buying the P&G I'd check with one of the blue sheets to make sure which products are eligible.

Finally, if you're referring to a flyer offer that seems to also have an email.direct coupon check the small print. More often than not same product but different sizes.
Great answers, but my question was badly worded--there is of course a Spend $100 on anything get 100AM coupon on the flier, and AM emailed me another one with same offer--I thought I read somewhere here that they were combinable, and to change cashiers if need be. If they were look out.

Wouldn't getting 1000 air miles be the perfect weekend gift?
Oh, yeah - I guess we need to buy some actual food this week too.

I would do two separate shopping trips of $100 each, using the same strategy each time. You could do this for your own shopping needs but you could also look at this as a way to donate to foodbanks for things they could really use (the P&G stuff for example). If you are getting back almost $70 worth of airmiles by spending $100, you're really only spending $30ish to make a much-needed donation to a worthy cause. Kinda forcing Safeway to donate to this worthy cause at the same time, but I'm sure they won't mind...

Yes they are different PLUs, so as long as you get a cashier who's not having a bad day, ask him/her to scan both. Been doing this for over a year and it's worked every time. That's an extra $11-$13 discount so why not try it. Note that this may change at any time if and when Safeway adjusts their system to prevent it or they sync up the PLU codes. But in the meantime, git 'er done!

Just saw emax's last post which would seem to indicate both will work. Go for it. What do you have tose?

On another tack though, I like emax's maximize example, however, I'd quibble a bit here.

Maximizing your AirMiles only works if you're also getting lower prices thanks to the AirMile bonus.

For me the Pepsi offer is not a good one as the AMs do not offset the lower prices I can get elsewhere.

However, that said, if you can get two 100 AM bonuses in that represents a further $2.20 savings per $10 spent (22%) in which case the Pepsi might work. If you only get one 100 bonus it might be OK too with $1.10/$10 spent or 11%.

Don't just buy a product because it comes with Airmiles. Buy it because the Airmiles effectively reduce the cost of a product you use over what you'd pay for it esewhere.

Absolutely 100% agree! In fact this philosophy should override everything. People get caught up in collecting airmiles for their own sake and should actually just look at them as an effective discount.

The example I gave was just to show that you should aim for $100 to trigger the two 100am coupons (which will then further lower the product's effective price like you've shown).

Personally we try not to have soft drinks in our house. Other deals - Orville R's popcorn for example - aren't really that good since I can buy noname popcorn at extra foods for $1/box when it comes on sale. Or the chef boyRdee pasta is a great deal but we don't buy products like that.

Excellent point OB: don't start with the airmiles in mind; start with the product you want to buy, then apply whatever discounts (coupons, airmiles, etc.) and compare the net price across a few stores.

Just got home and checked my Inbox.

Even Safeway managers are helping out now! LOL! Gotta love the CS at Safeway (and Best Western ). Best on the planet:

    Bob,

Great work on the page. As a Safeway manager, I enjoy reading the comments that the Air Miles group write.

FYI about the Spongetowels. There are actually 2 sizes that Safeway sells. One is a regular size which retails for approx $5-7. The other is a jumbo size (like a toilet paper double roll) which retails for approx $10-13. It doesn't really state it clearly in the flyer, but this week's advertisement should be the jumbo size. So, it's not too terrible of a deal.

    SpongeTowels (6) B2G40 9.99/7.79 (Terrible Offer)
OK, if they're double roll then it's the equivalent to 6 regular rolls @ 5/3.90 per package which is pretty good.

Bad news is you can't double dip on the P&G offer where the towels are Bounty!
