Returning to where I left off in new thread list?

Today is the day I am going to ask all the questions regarding how to do things on forums that have plagued me for years. Yes I am a major procrastinator.

So say I am reading new threads and come to one I want to see and most likely post to. Is there a faster way of getting back to where I originally left off at (ex:page 6 of 10)instead of using the back button cause I really want to avoid all of the "you have subscribed to this thread nonsense"?

It should keep your place if you click to the left of the thread title when you go back to it.
