Out of curiosity, has anyone gone to any of the local Blockbusters to check out the closing out sales? Anything good? I am debating going, but not totally sure how good the prices are gonna be yet or if they are picked over?

I went to the Blockbuster on 170th street in Terralosa with my boyfriend a couple of days ago. All movies are 25% off and all games and accessories are 15%.
Even though some of the sales aren't that great of a deal lots of people are buying, so it is going to start to get picked over quickly. There were only a handful of children's movies left and most were christmas ones.
They still have a good selection of new DVD's and BluRays but they are way overpriced.
Everything is a final sale - so you need to check every disk before you leave the store. If something is wrong with a disk they won't do anything about it.
In my opinion I would just wait for Walmarts sales on older movies. The prices are great, the movies are NEW, and you are guaranteed if something is wrong with your movies you can exchange it.

Yep... they are all closing. Every location is having liquidation sales.
I don't think they are accepting gift cards anymore either.
You may want to double check but I am almost positive they aren't

Just a couple of days ago, I stopped in at the Callingwood location. No big sales yet. When I asked one of the staff about any closing out sales, she said, they're not closing out yet. It's not a done deal yet, they just don't have an owner. Huh? I told her that the closures have been announced all over the news. She sounded like she was in denial and said that if they do close, the sales wouldn't be on until closer to the end of the month. Hmph.Guess someone didn't get the memo.

I bought all of the Harry Potter movies at the Spruce Grove Blockbuster (including Deathly Hallows 1) for $30 and a fun Wii game for 6. THey are all mint and the sales were awesome!

There sales are now at 40% off everything. I was at one location in Sherwood Park and they had a bunch of good stuff left.

I went to the BB in Brantford and prices are still nuts on most of the good DVDs. Some movies including kids movies and not new releases are $40 with 40% off. Thats too much for an old movie.

Has anyone tried and/or been successful in purchasing any of the shelving or fixtures? I was told by an employee they think it would belong to the landlord but they dont know yet.
