Thread: Canadian Tire Scratch Card

Just wondering if anyone else has had their card pre-scratched for them?
We live in an apartment building so I grab the free paper from down the road this morning after work, get home and see there is a line scratched across the top of the card, obviously revealing the 'free mccains coupon' so since this scratch voids the card, I go back down to the corner to grab a different one and after going through all five papers I see all five cards have the same or extremely similar scratch across the card.
So I am wondering if this was something done at the printing stage (although I am sure Quality Control would have caught an opps like that) or if there is a devious bargain hunter in my area trying to score the free $5 off. Which is quite possible since when the Red Plum insert came out, all the papers mysteriously disappeared rather early in the morning.
I am new to the area so it is possible that there is a unscrupulous bargain hunter in my neighborhood.
Anyone else find this problem with the cards? This thread is currently associated with: Canadian Tire, Red Plum

Ours too, every single one. Only the Mccain cake ones were left.... I went to the box down the street and it was full of papers then 15 min later they were all gone. They take them home and sort thru them, to return them with nothing in them. People are ignorant. It is so annoying. Every week that there are coupons in the paper this happens.

I got mine this morning as well.. I noticed that they were scratched.. I think it must be something happening when it is being inserted in the paper or something??? because My mother got one, and it wasnt scratched across... but my sister did have one.. and its like a straight line right across it.. It doesnt look like someone just did that on purpose?...
I could see if there were parts of the barcode or something scratched off..... unless it is someone who doesnt know they cant scratch it until they are infront of the cashier?
just kinda odd outta 3 delieverd papers 2 of them had the scratch one didnt iykwim?!my daughter this she is *ssohh cooo* wearing her new shades.

Mine too! I get mine delivered to my house so I don't know what was up with that. It was exactly over the line revealing $5 off and another smaller one below. I was lucky to get $5 off but now I can't use it.
Has anyone been able to use or get a new card when the went to CT?

CT staff confirmed it was an issue with the newspaper, and the newspaper has apologized. They will be accepting cards scratched by the machine (not scratched off, just the single scratch) until the end of the promo.
