Is it really worth all the effort?

IT depends who you are, you are right it is a lot of work for little pay. If you are a stay at home mom and can sneak on your computer at night while watching tv/unwinding from the day it seems worth it when you are trying to raise your own kids (they are sleeping anyways) JMO . A lot of people on here trade for huge amounts at a time which makes it even more worth it. If you are like on disability i can see how it would be worth it as well because there's not much they can do about not being able to work.


I like swagbucks because you are just searching as i would normally on google so that is a nice must!

I know I won't get rich. I understand that I can't quit my other job. I understand that things take time to build upon, and that if I'm serious at this I need to keep going at it until it starts to blossom.

I think surveys are just not the right place for me, then. I don't want to answer lots and lots of questions for 40 cents - IF I'm not screened out (at the end, after I've put in the time and effort). I was lucky enough to join Pinecone during the recent rush. I guess I should keep going with it and maybe one or two others that are reputable - reasonable payout threshholds, reasonable pay, and reasonable service. I don't like working and then finding out my account has been "cancelled" for whatever nonsense reason.

I see your point about the razor - it does only take two minutes (but this is if I get through, which I don't always). But I guess for two minutes' time, or even five, a 50 cent razor is worth it.

Question about Swagbucks - would I be cheating them if I got an Ontario or online P.O. box e-mail addy? I mean, am I allowed to do that?

Ok, Pinecone, Swagbucks, guess I'll check whatever other survey companies I'm with. I'm willing to play it safe for a little extra effort with a guaranteed reward. And I'll keep looking for other sources of income online. Maybe I'm arrogant or a dreamer, but I think I can do this. Thanks!


P.S. I was going to sell stuff online with a friend, but we decided to settle on retro/antique/etc... stuff, and so far it just hasn't worked out. I must admit E-bay seems intimidating to me... maybe I need to keep going!

Oh Lord no. I'd never suggest doing that (cheating SwagBucks). The reason SwagBucks isn't available in Quebec is because of the lottery rules in Quebec, which are different than the rest of Canada. It's Quebec's rules that's stopping participation, not SwagBucks. SwagBucks is paid by their advertisers and sponsors from the work you do on their site. They make more from what you do than they pay you (normal for an employer). You aren't hurting or defrauding SwagBucks in any way by giving an Ontario address. They want you. The more people that participate, the more they make from sponsors.

Missed this part before. If you want to sell household items, Kijiji is the place to do it. You can place the free online add locally and get someone a few streets over respond. In just the last few months I bought a wheelbarrow and a vcr and sold a fridge with Kijiji. It's people next to you so its practically instant and uncomplicated, unlike eBay. No fees of any sort either.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who replied... I know it's been a while since I opened this thread. I guess I've got to keep it simple. Start small. Maybe just keeping my eyes open for nice deals rather than trying to master something. I don't think it's going to be surveys, because I can't really control how much I make or get paid. It seems even "legitimate" sites have a lot of problems with these issues. So just look out for deals, maybe get hooked into Swagbucks and/or Listia and do the odd Pinecone survey, if I get them, because I hear they do pay decently. Thanks!
