Hello Momas and Papas!
I'm prego with my first child and wondering if Walmart's prices are a good deal.
The price for Pampers Diapers is $32.33 and you can get:
size 1 - 276 diapers
size 2 - 246 diapers
size 3 - 222 diapers
size 4 - 192 diapers
size 5 - 172 diapers
Is this a good deal? If it is, should I buy 1 box of each, or is that way too many diapers?!?!
And if it is a good deal, does anyone have $2 off pampers diapers to trade?
What about Pampers Sensitive Wipes @ $24.63 for 1024 wipes? Good deal? Any coupons out there for this?
Thanks in advance for you help SCers! :D

I know a lot of people stock up on diapers while pregnant however after having three kids my personal opinion is wait until you have your baby.
All three of my kids used a different brand each due to either an allergic reaction to certain material and also because each baby was shaped different. I had one long and lean, one short and squared in shape and one medium length but very bulky in the leg section. Certain brands and styles just don't fit properly and it is trial and error to find what works best for your baby.
btw: congrats on your pregnancy. Hope everything goes smooth sailing for you.

I have a few pampers coupons I can trade from brandsaver. I think stocking up is a good idea but just one or two boxes of each. My son went there sizes one to three quickly but slowed down around size four he's on 6 now and being 2 and a half working on potty training. if u want to trade I have some 2 dollar off I think 5 dollars off if u buy pampers n wipes let me know

I have 5 kids and like a previous poster sadi some diaper brands don' work so well with some babies however I only ever had a problem with cheaper store brands. Love pampers, used them for all 5 unless huggies happened to be on sale.
I would stock up if it's affordable to do so. I wouldn't go as far as getting 1 in each size. My baby is 9 months and wearing a size 3, sizes 5 and 6 won't come in handy for quite some time and I can assure you there will be sales later down he road where you could stock up on the larger sizes. I would say get 2 boxes of size 1 (we used 1 for a long time) and maybe 1 each of 2 and 3.

I still have a ways to go before I pop this baby out...I'm only 3 1/2 months pregnant. If this isn't a super fantastic deal for diapers and the wipes, I think I might skip it and wait 'til it's closer to due date. Any thoughts? Is this a deal I shouldn't miss, or are the chances pretty good I'll see another sale just like this within the next few months?
Thanks for your input! :D

It really depends. I've walked in Loblaws to find giant skids of diapers for 50% for boxes of 100 or so. Minus a 2.00-5.00 coupon each and I paid around 13.00 a box! I bought 6 in total, 3 for the baby and 3 for my toddler. That was the only time I've ever encountered such a great clearance!
Sometimes when you buy the smaller packs on sale/clearance minus coupon you ge them for 5.00-7.00 a bag. A couple weeks ago metro had size 6 cruisers on clearnace for 9.99 the cashier scanner and they came in at regular price 19.99 which was a great scop for me!
It is still a great deal at walmart though, I will be buying 1 box for my baby but not for my toddler because I do plan to have her potty trainer completely before the end of a box that size.
As for wipes, the best average deal on the 6 pack box is about 10.00. If theres a good sale for wipes I will be grabbing some. Too bad wipes coupons aren't as easy to come by as diaper coupons

The diapers are pretty good deal IMO. However, I think other sale prices come close, if not the same, especially if you use coupons on top of it.
I wanted to stock up when the anniversary sale came around (I'm 4 months along), but I wouldn't stock up with these huge boxes. Some babies have reactions to Pampers, (or Huggies for that matter) and you won't know until you have the baby. With DD, I prefered Huggies for the first couple months because of the fit.

I think it's a pretty good deal and Walmart is usually pretty good about exchanging things if you don't end up using them. They tell you 90 days to return something, but I've seen people go in with boxes of diapers that I'm sure they've had forever and no receipt and they still get the money back, just on a Walmart GC instead of cash. I wouldn't get any newborn. You never know how big your baby will be and you might not end up needing very many. (Ours skipped newborn altogether!)
The wipes I think are a pretty good deal. I normally get a box of 420 for $11.99 with a $1.00 off coupon. I'll definitely be picking up a box of these tomorrow!
I have some Pampers coupons I'd be more than happy to give you, (the least I can do for your wonderful coupon donation) if you PM me your address I can mail them and hope they get to you in time or I live in an apartment building in the west-end, so alternatively you could drop by and I could run down to give them to you. Send me a PM and let me know either way!
And CONGRATULATIONS!!

I bought 3 boxes of size 6. My three year old wears them at night only and my 13 month old is a big guy so will for sure use them.
I'm not sure about a case of size one and two. My dd only used one little package of each I think. I got a diaper "cake" as a gift for my little guy. I was told there was one package each of newborn, size 1 and size 2 and I had to pretty much stuff my son into them. He was in size three right away.
I had a bunch of $5 off coupons from Shoppers voice so it was worth it for me to get these huge boxes.Last edited by frugalmom2; Sat, Sep 24th, 2011 at 06:27 PM.

I agree with all of the above. My first could only use pampers, my second could only use Huggies.
I see the wipes in the 3 count refill (184 or so?) for $5 every so often, minus a coupon is my favourite deal.
Diapers, figure out the cost per diaper, and compare that way - I forget what a good deal is though!! (less than 20 cents each at least)
Bottom line, keep your receipt taped to the box in case you need to exchange.
Good luck!!!
(I have a bunch of brandsaver diaper coupons I can give you if you want!)

I have done quite a bit of math to find the best diaper and formula prices. (I have a 6 month old)
The best deal I found was a sale at SDM 9.99 for 60 of life brand. Thats $.17 per unit. This sale goes on regularly. I have also bought the Teddy brand at RCSS for roughly the same price. Even with the pamper and huggies coupons it doesn't come close. They are usually aound $.24-.26 per unit .20 with coupons. Before we always use to buy the diapers in bulk at Costoc thinking it was the best deal, but even when they have sales its only around .20 for a mid size diaper.
For formula we buy the Kirkland brand at Costco 23.99 for 1.3kg. I think its a lower end brand. Not as good as Enfamli for sure. I think there are cheaper brands out there, but I just can't bring myself to use them (Life brand, Teddy, Good start)
Hope this helpsIf you can't afford a vet then you can't afford a pet

I never pay more than $.15/diaper and I always buy Pampers at Walmart. I still have six rainchecks from when the second largest box size was $23.97 for 140-160. Similac you can get for $15 if you wait for a good sale and use a $10 cheque and $5 coupon.

Hey ChefSteph,
Thanks for the lists of the pampers diapers count #'s. Its a great price for pampers. cost per unit is $.168.
Although in the middle of the flyer you will see Parents Choice diapers on sale for 17.97 for a count of 140 size 4. Which is $.128 per unit.
I'm going to take the walmart flyer to Zellers and have them price match the pampers. Then i'm going to use a facebook coupon for Zellers which gives me 20% off a single item when you use HBC Card. Then I have a $2 off coupon as well. This brings the price down to around $23. The cost per unit for size 4 is .124
Not much more of a savings, but its more fun!!
Best price for wipes this week (which ends today) is at Independant Teddy's wipes 4.99/240 =.020 versus the pamper wipes at walmart 24.63/1024 = .024. Although I do have a pampers wipes coupon for $2 which would bring the price down to .022.
I use to get great prices on wipes from costco. The cost was about .01 per wipe. Then they increased the price and decreased the wipe count.
I hope this helps good luck!If you can't afford a vet then you can't afford a pet
