My dad stopped at our local Wendy's last night to pick up two Double Stacks and an order of nuggets.

He went through the drive thru and paid by interac. Got the order and came home. After he got home he had my check his bank account for something and so I pull up his account on the computer and there is a charge from Wendys for $0.98 from yesterday!

We dug through the bag and found the interac receipt and sure enough, it was $0.98! The order came to $8.98 so apparantly the "8" didn't get hit when the person entered the total!

So we paid less then $1.00 for all of that!

So many times we never look at the total on the machine and just click "OK"... I had one once where it was supposed to be something like 11.99 and the thing said "Purchase $1199.00 OK?" That one I did catch! Also I almost goofed up on a machine that you can tip the server on. I almost gave her a 100% tip instead of 10%!

Guess you have to watch the interac machines all the time!!!

That happened to me about 3 weeks ago. I got panago delivery, debit at the door. The total was $21.98 and he only punched $2.19 into the machine. I saw it right away and told him to correct it. Sounded like a good deal but I could only think of how much trouble he would be in when he got back that he only charged me $2.19 for a large pizza and a bottle of Coke.
Coupons = Little pieces of paper you get FREE from the stores, from reps and from companies (ie: Not gold)

In certain businesses, the employees have to pay their errors. What makes that when you work on the minimum wage, your pay is less big at the end. It is thus a good thing to let it know to the employee. It is sad for us not to be able to benefit from a substantial economy, but the employee can also lose his employment (and sometimes his reputation) for such errors. And what say about our honesty.

Good reminder for everyone! We just automatically know what buttons to hit and don't read the screen.... I have to keep reminding myself to READ THE SCREEN from time to time!

I do realize that... but I have worked at this location and I know that employees are not responsible for shortages. If caught right away, I am sure my dad would have corrected, as would I.. but we were already home and he would have had to go back to get it straightened out. I told him the employee would not be held accountable for it, so we let it go.

I don't think anyone was suggesting that your dad did anything wrong - just that, for times when people notice they are undercharged, they should speak up - just like we all would speak up when being overcharged.

I'm sure there's plenty of times we have all found our receipts were over or under what they actually should have been, and didn't notice until we got home, and decided it was too much of a hassle for such a small amount to follow up, whether owed to us or the store.

Yea, I will typically speak up if I am being over/undercharged and I notice it at the POS. Like yesterday I was returning a sweater I had bought at Old Navy and their system was down to just scan the barcode, so they had to do a manual return, she did not notice I had used a $5 off $25 and tried to return almost 40 bucks back to me when really it should have been 35ish. I spoke up and said that it did not sound right, I used a coupon. She thanked me and recalculated the total.

However, if I had not noticed then and made it home or even just left the store, I would not turn around.

Yes, usually the mistake will come out of the employees pocket. But again tey have to pay attention to this sort of things. I know where I work the other lady had screwed up with a credit card and she had to fork out $50 off her pay. Also, same with fake bills or declined cards. Which is why I make the individual wait until it completely goes through which a lot dont. Ive had a friend loose hundreds from this sort of mistake and a lot of times its just the buttons sticking.
