Today is 11-11-11.
It is Rememberance Day but also when all the numbers match up.
I heard on the news that there will be a lot of weddings in the U.S., with brides hoping that this will be a lucky day for them. One woman was interviewed and said that she got engaged on 10-10-10.
Wonder if this trend will continue for next year on 12-12-12?This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I truly don't think that people should be married on Remberance Day. It is a day to honour those who gave their lives for us.
I have heard and read a lot about how lucky these 3 same digit days are suppose to be, but since this year it is rememberance day, it should get a pass. Just my opinion. We all need a little sunshine every now and then

I think more often some couples want to get the cutesy wedding date - I don't see the big deal, I kinda like regular Saturday weddings, whatever the date.
Some cultures have specific significance regarding certain numbers, so in those cases I can understand.
-- Thousands of couples across Asia swamped marriage registries and held mass weddings, believing that the quirk of the calendar makes 11/11/11 the most auspicious date in a century.
In China, the world's most populous country, registries were packed with couples wanting to wed on the date that has been recognised as an unofficial "singles' day" since the 1990s because it is made up entirely of the number one - believing that the quirk of the calendar makes 11/11/11 the most auspicious date in a century.
In the commercial capital Shanghai alone, nearly 5,000 couples got married, while in the eastern Chinese city of Jining, 68 couples tied the knot together at a mass wedding.
In Vietnam, 80 couples planned to get hitched at a mass wedding to be held in Ho Chi Minh city -- the largest ever for the country's commercial capital.
---in Vegas, that means throngs of lovebirds are flocking to chapels to get hitched Friday.
"We're surrounded by hundreds of couples who want to get married on 11/11/11," said the Rev. Charlotte Richards, owner of Little White Wedding Chapel on the Las Vegas Strip.
The chapel has 200 brides and grooms who are either getting hitched for the first time or are renewing their vows. In addition to a beautiful ceremony, Richards said she is offering bridal flowers and dog tags that have the 11/11/11 date inscribed on them.
-- in Vegas the Chapel of the Flowers is running 15 hours of back-to-back weddings in its three chapels from 8am to 11.11pm.

My sister tried to get married on 07-07-07. She claims she didn't realize the number thing.(it was a sat.) She couldn't find anyone available to marry them on that date...so they changed it.

Egypt closes Great Pryamid
Egypt has closed the Great Pyramid outside Cairo after rumours that groups would try to hold special rituals on 11 November at 11:11 (09:11 GMT).
The rumours sparked an internet campaign to stop any ceremonies.
However the head of Egypt's antiquities authority said the pyramid had been closed until Saturday morning for "necessary maintenance" only.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
