Thread: Couponing in Truro

Hi All!
I'm a university student from Halifax (well, Dartmouth really) and have been couponing for over two years - mostly as a lurker on this site, too shy to post! However after posting on my "brags" on facebook, many friends have reached out for coupon lessons, and I have agreed to travel to Truro with a financially unstable friend within the next two weeks. I have heard of stacking at Pharmasave there, and would also like to check out Margolians for Christmas gifts
Long story short, my question to you is:
What exactly is the coupon policy at Pharmasave in Truro? Do coupons have to be visually different? Have different UPCs? Be from different sources? etc..
Second, has anyone checked out Margolians? I went last year and found great deals, was wondering how it is now that they are closing?
Thank you all
p.s. I apologize if this is a repost, I did my best to search the maritime forum for the answers to my questions, with little luckThis thread is currently associated with: Pharmasave

I can't really answer your questions BUT I drove out to Truro to go check out the Pharmasave and the products I was interested in the prices were through the roof.
I will go back BUT the item will have to be on sale to go.

According to their website (and a press release) it advertises a closing 'blowout' sale, as they are closing in Janurary 2012! http://www.margolians.com/
Hopefully a Truro-ite? (haha) can fill us in on the coupon policy, I'd love to make a few baskets of soaps and toiletries for friends and family this year

I went down to Margolians about 2 weeks ago and yes there are discounts on but I did not find the deals worth it. They are open until January and maybe as the weeks go by the deals will be better. I did not buy anything as I found I could get the same items at better prices elsewhere. As for the Pharmasave policy - I do not know , why not give them a call and ask them what their coupon policy is and then there will be no guessing or disappointments when you arrive.

Ok...Margolians is still open...but have heard reports that the prices are 'blow-out'...haven't seen it for myself..don't shop there..just too expensive!
Pharmasave...The manager told me "be different or look different". So, different UPC, different sources are the best bet.
You can't take $3 WUB2 Aveeno tearpad coupons with all the same UPC and stack them to get free aveeno (as far as I know).
The prices are expensive. Got febreeze yesterday..fabric refresher $7.99, air stuuf..$4.49..set&refresh..$4.49.
If you have specific things you are looking for, I can find the price..I am generally in that store 5+ times a week (that is were I mail from).
For example, if you are interested in coming up, and want Olay BW, than I can find the prices...let you know...you have time to collect coupons and come up.
I do find it takes a lot of planning and organization and PATIENCE to do this. I once had a checkout last for more than 1 hour.

I was there today picking up some stuff and they told me that they might stop stacking primarily b/c they have had some issues with one couponer ... story being that this couponer argues with them (the cashier) to cover the taxes (when stacking coupons) and the store is not being reimbursed for this ... I told them they should just say no but she said that they give in sometimes because she is so pushy and has threatened to call head office etc..... i mean come on .. the stuff is practically free .. why push it and try to get the taxes off too ... the cashier said that they have had ALOT of meetings re: couponing and are thinking of stopping the stacking. She said "this couponer is going to ruin it for everyone" .... and it is an individual stores choice to stack or not ..... so please, please, please .... if you are on SC .... please heed this message .... hate for the stacking to disappear.

Thanks everyone for the informative replies!
iluvcoupon - That's awful, it's so unfortunate that one person can ruin it for so many - and over a few cents? That's just greedy...
Allis - I'm mainly interested in Olay, Febreeze and Crest WhiteStrips - I have 3 different sets of coupons due to overlapping time before expiring dates. I'll PM you once I'm more organized and sure of which week I'll be going down. Knowing the prices will make things much easier - you're a sweetheart!

I would also hate this...but....
I have had cashiers there tell me that the coupons include taxes, and they are supposed to ring them up as 'tax included'? SO, I wish they would get their stories straight...
BTW..not me arguing or threatening...I'll take free stuff either way, with or without taxes included
Oh...and just give me a couple days notice...and I can get the prices for you. I do know that Febreeze air effects is 4.49, set and refresh 4.49 and 800ml fabric refresher is 7.99.
Update: just got off the phone with the Cash supervisor at Pharmasave...A written policy will be put out in the next week or so. There has been some pushy customers looking for overages etc...Hopefully with the new written policy, things will be clearer
