Went to TAG today. they are offering either tax free or a $20 gift card if you buy $100 in outerwear before tax ...

So off I went to buy my darling daughter a WATER RESISTANT snow suit ... I brought her with me of course, b/c she is 5 and wanted to pick it out herself.

Long story short, she chose the $99 one instead of the $79 one that I was eyeing ... but it will last 2 seasons unless she takes a ridiculous growth spurt so I thought why not .. throw in a pair of water resistant gloves and voila I am over the $100 mark for outside gear (now able to either chose tax free or $20 gift card) .... Also going to get a pair of winter boots for $24 ... but WAIT ..
what is a better deal .. tax free or $20 bucks ....

I don't know if you know this or not ... .BUT (I just found out today) that Kids clothes is only TAXED at 5% in NS (instead of the usual 15%) since July 2011.

So for $109 + 5% tax ... I chose the $20 gift card and essentially got the boots for next to nothing ....

I know it was a bit much for the snow suit but my dgt. will be happy and dry this year (and hopefully next) ....

It pays to shop on the "right" day.

wtg thanks for the info on 5%tax on kids clothes although it dont help now that my boy is in mens smalll grrrrrr they grow toooooo fast
