Shoppers is passing the buck IMO not dealing with the big picture. They also sent an email suggesting to share with friends and family so that everyone might take advantage of the Mega Redemption so once again they created the monster in the first place.

It still does not justify the way some people are behaving & treating others, period.

Yes I have that written down too.

At least I could have redeemed for gifts with airmiles (just not food and and Diabetic supplies But I will never trust them again.)
Oh I even though I quoted your post in my response, I should have made it clear that my thoughts on going to the police weren't directed at you specifically. I only mentioned what I did because some of the suggestions were to go to the police, because it is theft. I understand it feels like theft of money (if someone stole a member's points vs SDM revoking them) but I'm just doubtful that the police will look at the points as money. The points are only worth what SDM says they're worth. That's all. Not directed at anyone specifically

I dont see why everyone is so worked up over this, shoppers is doing their job, some people should read the terms and policy before going out and pointing fingers. it clearly stats that you are not aloud to give out your information, the only reason for being able to trade points is so you can give them to family or join up with a group of people you trust to go out and get the most out of your points, not send them all across canada. shoppers will never be able to tell wither or not your points were "stolen" they could say your trading them left right and center and thats against their rules, whos going to trust someone after they just broke the policy? like people had said before, use a empty card when trading points (even though your still not aloud to do it) that way no one can hack you, shoppers isnt responsible for you giving out your card number.... thats like giving out your bank number. but im not a very sympathetic person, so call me on what i say, there were rules, they were broken, and now people are upset, guess thats just a lesson learned and its time to move on, before trouble is caused... fighting with the company wont make things better, just saying, itll only make matters worse.

The point is, you could transfer JUST with your DH, as they encourage, and have your points stolen by a staff member or whoever and not get them back because you gave your card # to your family

I actually don't trade other than with hubby or daughter but I believe the issue is the Shoppers site our accounts are not protected. I think someone hacked it pure a simple. The site needs to be secured. Some people that lost points had not traded other than with close family so something is wrong.

I think if your account history demonstrated that you only ever pooled points with your husband a few times a year, at the same address as you, and suddenly 300,000 points had been transferred to someone clear across the country.... I would hope that SDM would be inclined to consider the possibility of theft and/or breach of your account.

Question: Is this the only place where people "trade" and "barter" for SDM points? I find it incredibly curious that everyone affected (and yes even the non-member mom) has a tie here. If the SC member's mom had done frequent transfers with her, then it may be a simple case of guilt by association. If the member had indeed done frequent transfers with her mom, I wonder if those other people affected were not. Or if they were, were their frequent transfer family members also affected, and have they checked?

Well said!! It's not SDM fault people give out their card numbers and violate their terms. It's like some of these members who abuse the BP offers buy creating multiple optimum card accounts to use a BP coupon over and over and then they transfer them all on to one main card. It's crooked, dishonest, distasteful and just plain WRONG. Then you have the card holders who are trading coupons for SDM points which is also not allowed and wrong. All you have to do is go back and read some of these posts that have been made with the sole purpose of screwing SDM out of their rewards. Hey, lets use our points on redemption day and then return the item to get money on a SDM gc. And hey, maybe we can then use that gc to get a different gc that we really, really want!! Some real upstanding members I'll tell ya. You know the old saying...all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch...perhaps a little more honesty and a lot less selfishness should be shown to this incredible program.

I am most concerned about my identity changed and nobody noticed? Who changes their name, address, email and date of birth all of sudden after 5 years on one of SDM biggest promotional days?

I admit - I guess I broke their rules. I never traded points until this past month. Everyone was doing it - I thought it was ok. If that is all they are going to say about my account being accessed - we are not going to give you back your points - the situation is only half dealt with.

Actually, it is a private forum and has rules so you can be punished or banned - not because of your views, but certainly for the way you put them forward

Did anyone notice the title of this thread is Smart Canucks does not attack other members ?

Yet you made the assumption that everyone that is having card problems made trades?

I don't get that either - when they talked to you how could they not address all the information that was changed on your account? They are upset about trading, fine, I get that, but they didn't think that was important to discuss with you?

Your post is incredibly, and sadly, insensitive.

well you can update the info when you log in, so their answer would probably be the person changed it to stop you logging in again and make it harder for SDM to help you since the name wouldnt match etc
