I don't think anyone is directly blaming shoppers here

They are question their website security which is obviously insecure, and they are wanting an investigation to be conducted, because they're the only ones with the means and information to do so, not us. I'm sure if sdm would just send all the information they had to the people that took the loss, it could be figured out 1) where the points were transferred to, weather the card be fake or real, when you sign up for an optimum card, the store number is documented. 2) find out where the points on that card were used and 3) ask the store's manager or loss prevention person to check the camera for that date and time for the person checking out if they can get a picture, see if they used credit/debit and they'd also have their personal information. And volia, problem solved.

By doing this, they could find out if they were stolen by whoever, or if it was an electronic error. Problem is, this is NOT happening.

Weather something was transferred, breached, whatever, whatever, insert mean trolling comment, and so on. The bottom line is, they were stolen, or there was an electronic error that effected the person's points, and now they're gone, and they should conduct a proper investigation to find out who did it, or what malfunction happened with their web programming that would result in points disappearing. Done. There is no need for continued arguments or who's fault it was, who did what, unfortunately because shoppers is the one with the information for all this, so people are wanting answers. Do not disclose what exactly happened, HOWEVER it happened, is a complete lack of responsibility on the company's part.

    my question is this...

WHY wont SDM tell the people who are missing points where their points were transfered too? That way we could figure out if it was 1 person, a group of people or a weird glitch. Why won't the give that info out. If they are saying it is the person's fault for giving out their number then it shouldn't make a difference telling them where the points went??

*** yes I know not everyone did trades ect ect... just making a point.***

Summery of what I just said. Its either one, or the other, or both that all happened at the same time. But they should disclose what exactly happened!

why are you so sure its a security problem, when i have 4 receipts on me that show my full number (so if you didnt ever trade you number is still there for people to see), I also have 15 receipts showing all but 3 of my numbers theres 999 possibilities it only takes one person to sit down and start guessing and fact is my last 3 digits are no where near 999 alone, it wouldnt take long for someone to figuring mine out. therefore theres more of a chance of someone stealing your points is actually grater than someone hacking into the network. And as for saying they could track down who took them, im sure they can they just dont want to because after looking at peoples account history they realized they were taking part in many different transactions (its against their rule to trade) they suspect people were trading points (in most cases they were) so they are now saying its the owner of the cards fault, and they dont have to deal with it because those people broke the rules.

I'm saying it was either 1) theft or 2) electronic error, I am not arguing more to one side or the other. Those are the possibilities, and they should be disclosed.

I just got off the phone with SDM HO in the last hour....There answer to me is that I had a high volume of transfers since 2009/2010 & I will not get my points back!! WTH!!

I said well, I have done all SDM promos (20x day, TAF events etc) & I did my own TAF groups in addition to SC so of course I have transfers on my account....plus my aunt & friends transferred to me & vice versa when we wanted to...its in their rules....this just stinks and will not give me any info on who took my points!

I told them I've shopped at SDM since the 1990's & had my card for over 11yrs & this is the way I get treated & brought business into their stores (telling friends & family about all their great promos!). etc.

I asked for someone higher up to call me back...she said within 24-48hrs!! I may even contact the police as this is out right fraud for changing my account info etc...

Yes, their system is very lacking in security ...anyone can google for addys/PC & you can find out alot on the net for people if you look hard enough! Plus the OP card number on reciept as mentioned shows first 3 digits then *** then the last 3 digits! WTH!! Doesn't take long if someone really wanted to figure it out!

well i see SDM point of view,...wouldn't that be disclosing personal information??? and let's say...you an I traded 10bp...on feb 15, 2011 now i have your card # since, and on Dec 3 at 2am i decided that hey Draggy has 200,000bp i will steal them and then make the transfer....SDM has no way to know whether YOU traded or transfer the points so they will not release MY information to you ...

If "my card" tranfered to "your card" it's not giving out personal information since I should " know" that information in order to transfer the points.

If I asked who the last person I traded to, it's a recap of my account activity nothing more.
