Self - explanatory! I was making shortbread this morning and it went bye bye. My poor wrists after trying to stir that! What is the best deal you've gotten on a KA stand mixer so I can keep an eye out? Mind you, I may have to pay a little more, I NEED to get a ton of Christmas cookies made. (They are gifts!)

Costco. And if it goes $90 off in the next 30 days, Costco will refund the difference if you keep your receipt. You also get a 90 day return policy.

The high end Costco model is not included in the Kitchenaid rebate, but it ends up cheaper then comparable models when it goes $90 off and it does frequently.

I bought mine a costco over 4 years ago, and I found after much research that they were about the cheapest and they have a great return policy if anything went wrong. I know you will be asking yourself after you use it, "What in the world was I ever thinking, using a hand mixer?" I have the ultra with the biggest motor, as I do lots of breads and heavy cakes. I find it mixes and kneeds the best (compared to my dd's cuisenart), lots of power, and doesn't bog down.

One of the stronger ones, the Pro, is on at Canadian Tire for $300 - plus there's a rebate available.
Also check amazon dot com, they have some of the others on around the $200 mark.

There's another thread running about them, I left links there for deals, and for the rebates.

Ooh, thanks for the tips! I would lean towards a stronger one too, because I'm also thinking about getting a bread machine...sometime!

OK so i have no idea about good deals on mixers..hopefully i won't need a new one anytime soon
However, wanted to say you don't need a bread machine to make bread. I have a machine but now do it by hand...i know,i know, it sounds a little odd..but hey, what can i say - thats me!!
Measure it up, give it a quick knead, let it rise and throw it in a pan - and before you know it, homemade bread without the hole in the middle where the paddle was
As we speak i have homemade Naan bread sitting on my counter ready for supper..yummy!!
    Just saying

+1 Especially with the stand mixer, you really don't need a bread maker. I have only ever made white bread but its so easy with the stand mixer. Plus I can fit multiple loaves in my oven at a time. Might have to bake some this weekend!
