I never got the common cold in 2011
due to consistant hand-washing
and avoid touching anything with bare hands in public, ttc, stores' etc
viruses are transmitted via hand to nose
and with airborne colds/coughs... i was damn lucky to have a strong immune system
hopefully... I can continue with my streak of good luck dodging the cold virus!

That's great.
We found hand washing good too. We take vitamin C, drink lots of water and try to get enough sleep.
Hope 2012 is cold free for you too.

And the vitamin C is awesome. When I feel a cold coming, I start to take extra vitamin C and it usually prevents the cold from getting worse.

OMG, your sooo lucky! I've been sick since December 7 (cold, double eye and ear infections, sore throat) I do all the same things as you, but since I work in a medical clinic, i'm pretty much screwed. I really need to find a new job....

Congrats! I wish I could brag about that. Just this morning I woke up with a pretty good cold settling in - great way to end 2911
I have a good excuse though... My fiancé was in the hospital for two weeks in the beginning of December and since then I have been looking after him at home, along with keeping up with all the Christmas stuff, regular household stuff... The exhaustion has finally caught upon the form of a cold. Hopefully I won't have too many this year because generally I always end up with a sinus/ear infection with colds.

Same here. Cold free for all of 2011.
I agree with hand washing and Vitamin C. Zinc lozenges are great if you feel like a cold maybe starting. Nips it in the bud, at least for me.

I *knock on wood* almost never get sick. Vitamin D & C regularly are both good. Congrats!

Also, someone once shared with me for keeping colds away: "Never leave the house hungry" your resistance will be down and you can pick up cold bugs easily and your body wont be able to fight them off.
