i also dont have BIG BIG hopes for Target, the things that i like about target in US is that they have really good clearance section for cloths in USA( i like the quality of the cloths too exp kids), and they allow to use their coupon and Manufacture coupon together, otherwise their sale price is much higher than other stores in US
My local store opened today. I drove by this morning and the parking lot was crazy!! I decided to check it out tomorrow instead.

So i went to the one in Hamilton today, not a deal to be had. I hope the grand opening has some deals/sales. I bought bread which was overpriced so I used 2x fpcs a bag of small bagels 2.99 what? polysporin eye drops for the babe 10.99 which was lower than sdm at 14.99 and that was it!
Drove by the parking lot of my local store today and kept driving. Poor customers who actually wanted to use another business that was in the same plaza had no parking. The movie theater, grocery store and all other stores parking was taken over by target shoppers. It was insane. And its really bad weather out right now too!
I'm so excited to see one of these stores. Too bad there isn't any close to me :frown:
So I ended up in the area of my local Target that was opening today and the parking lot wasn't bad so I stopped in. I am glad I didn't have my hopes up for great things. You would think on the first day there would be some sales but I didn't see one! I found it to be a cleaner Zellers, just like the ones in the US stores. I then went and took my MIL to her Milton Target and it was just the same. Oh, and they actually do ONLY price match ONE item! Walmart has nothing to worry about unless Target comes out with great sales in the future and changes their price matching policy.
If you see a good deal in a Target flyer then Walmart I would think pricematch it.Quote:

Went to the one at Centerpoint Mall today. Parking lot was busy but not too bad. I was excited to try some cosmetic brands which were not available in Canada before, e.g. Pixi, Sonia Kashuk. They didn't have Sonia Kasuk makeup products yet. Overall, not as exciting as I thought it would be. I guess I was expecting it to be like the stores in US.

I decided to check out the Target in Whitby today. The crowd was'nt bad at all. I found it to be a better, cleaner verison of Zellers. It even had the same layout as Zellers. I was in the market for a new VCR since my old one broke, I found one at Target for $99 (was a good brand name, but I forget which one it was) while Walmart had a one for $108 (it was cheap looking, and made by a brand I've never heard of before).
I was also happy to find that they had size 11 shoes! Not many stores carry that size.
I was disapointed that they did'nt have a $5 movie rack or discounted videogames. (even Zellers had that)
Books were 25% off.
Their clothes looked better that Walmart and Zellers.
I dont like Starbucks, I wish they had a resturant like what Zellers had. (I actually liked the Zellers restaurant! lol)
Alot of the shelves were empty, and stock looked limited.
Overall, I liked it, but I will still be doing most of my shopping at Walmart, as they are still the cheapest.
I went to the one in Hamilton Center Mall and it was packed even the line up for Starbucks was long. The clothes looked better but still cost more and they didn't have any housewares. I was looking for drinking glasses a box of 6 19.99 and Walmart same quality was 9.99. They did have different brands of cat and dog food. The Market Brand is by Sobeys so it was still more expensive than Walmart's house brand. Housebrand Aleve, advil and benedyl cheaper at Target and Walmart atleast $1.00.
I asked about price matching and they said for larger items they would call over to the nearest store to verify it was in stock and the price. So if Walmart which in the mall was out of stock or sold out no price matching. For smaller items depending on the sale they might have to call the nearest store. I just walked over to Walmart couldn't be bothered. I asked about overage and mixed answered training manual says no but could change. Since this is a soft opening I can see them changing there policy cause where my Target is there is a Walmart, Canadian Tire, Marshalls soon and Metro then 10 min walk in No Frills.
Only thing I love was Starbucks cause there isn't one close by to me.
