Just curious. The documents at the CRA are very vague about this. Thx.

I believe self employeed people only have to charge HST if they make a certain amount (or atleast that's how it was for GST) $30,000.

I tutor just a few hours a week (2-3) which means I make an extra $50-$75 a week. I don't do this as a career (whereas some people do) so I kinda just do it under the table... Depends on how much you are making?

If you provide only exempt goods and services, you cannot register for GST/HST. This means that you do not charge GST/HST on your supplies of your goods and services, and you do not claim input tax credits.

Thanks. Finally, phoned CRA to double check and they said no HST/GST on elementary/highschool course tutoring. On the same note, I cannot claim any GST paid out either. I will need to make changes to his last two GST claims. Oh, the joy!
