Welcome to Smart Canucks. I am in Ontario but here is a tip that really helped me out. In grocery, drug stores, etc. look for the clearance rack. It is usually in an obscure part of the store and you have to hunt for it, but it is well worth it. Always take your coupons with you or leave them in the car if you may forget to take them. You would be amazed at what you can find on the clearance racks that you can use coupons for. I have found items that were either FREE or less than a dollar with my coupons.

    Happy Couponing.

I just started last month and still learning, but a few things.

    * Don't throw out coupons you can't use, you can always trade them ( think of it this way you may or may not have kids or pets, but others do and don't use what you want -- win win )
    * Some people will trade unused postage to help you going for coupons you want/need
    * If you need to tarde via stamps you are still saving, $2.50 in stamps and $0.20 on envelope and getting $15-$20 in coupons is still savings...
    * Always watch sales at stores and try and match up coupons ( for example rexall had mens gillette deoderant for 2 for $5, I used 2 coupons $2 off any gillette deoderant, so only paid $0.50 a piece versus 2.99 regular price or the $2.50 sale price )
    * organize your coupons in sections ( aka mens/beuty/house/etc ) makes easier for claiming or finding in your stash
    * read coupons as some are per purchase( if multiples can use on each purchase ) or per customer( = 1 used per customer so multiples not accepted on 2nd/3rd/etc purchase) )....
    * be organized at cash, i put my coupons on each item its for for cashier
    * watch scanning and tell if coupon missed or wrong price
    * stacking = multiple different coupons( dif upc codes ) on same item to get cheap.... not many places accept this method.
    * don't be a hord, use what you can and buy what you can with coupons, sure is nice to have 3000 TP, but will take decades to use personally.

My 1st few couponing trips, I saved maybe 5-10%, but now with watching sales and combining coupons, i can average a 15-25% savings, making it well worthwhile. Still learning......

Hi Nicki and Welcome. I am new here also. If I had any advise it would be to get organized in a way that works for you and take them with you when you go shopping. When I started I only took what I had found in the ads and missed some good deals.

I agree Denise. This has happened to me too many times where I bring the coupons based on what I saw in the flyer and then the store has other in-store specials and I miss out. Leaving the house without your coupon binder is a no no! hehehe.

As well, you need to spend time, its not quick and easy, lots of research time required as well.

Welcome. Don't be brand loyal.. that way you have a better chance of matching coupons with sales. I may have a different brand of a toilet paper in a few weeks, but who cares! I have more money in the bank.
Check out Beyond The Rack for great deals on clothing, accessories and houseware!

Have you tried Swagbucks? As a student, I am very thankful to have an opportunity to earn gift cards and even cash through PayPal! Good luck =) http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/tomatosoupx
