La Senza is closing :(

If you google this there a quite a few articles talking about it. The number of stores they mention closing is 81

That's listed for the UK though, nothing for Canada.

La Senza UK is owned by Theo Paphitis who opened up a new firm called Boux Avenue a few months before the La Senza UK filed for administration.

Of course there could be issues for other countries, I'm not finding anything in my searches.

I feel for the people who will lose their jobs, but La Senza lost my business ages ago. Their bras never fit me properly, I kept popping out of them, and they were super cheaply made. The wires always broke through the fabric and cut me.

I pay a premium ($140 a bra) for the ones I wear now, but they're the best bras I've ever had. We've got a place here in Winnipeg called "The Bra Bar" and they are pricey but you definitely get what you pay for! La senza bras used to last me maybe 3-4 months. I've had ones from the Bra Bar that are now 2 years old and haven't lost their shape, ability to keep the girls where they're supposed to be and haven't discoloured at all.

I heard last night that a local La Senza store is closing, but not until Feb. 19th...and their employees know.

As I said in my post above yours (we posted pretty closely together, so you probably didn't see it), no they don't have to give them extra anything unless it's 'in lieu of notice'.

It's not likely that anyone has worked for them long enough to require a severance payout which is a minimum of 5 years. In fact, I can tell you that of the 110 employees which included myself and the HR rep on site, only 2 of us (myself & the HR rep) qualified for severance when notice was given; and the notice that we gave the employees was based off the fact that one employee had been with us for 4 years - that's 4 weeks notice.

Like I said, I know that sounds terrible, but unless you've been put in the position where mass attrition can break your business, it's hard to understand why most companies wait for as long as possible to give notice.

I went to La Senza on Boxing day (mind you it was in the am, but still)
They had like 50% off clearance bras and like 10 panties for $20 or something and even though thats a PRETTY GOOD sale for La senza - there was like less then 6 people in there.

Your searches wont bring up anything probably because it's so hush hush. Like I said, most employees don't even know. It's not all of them though, I assume the reason there's no clear-out sale is because they'll just ship the remaining inventory to the stores that are doing well.

I would imagine too its only stores with low meeting budgets.
Sherway Gardens has a location inside the mall, as well as outside. One is 3 times the size of the other, and usually has better sales.
Also square one has like 3 stores with different La senza names? Not sure what that is about - or if one is plus size i`m not sure.

They would probably just eliminate the less busy ones.

I've never shopped at La Senza, their prices have always been too high for me (I won't pay more than $3 for a bra (yay small chest!) or $2 for knickers). My sisters used to shop there but their products don't fit F or H size boobs!

But that is very unfortunate for the employees. Hope they find jobs elsewhere fast!

They're not the only ones. Rogers is more or less quietly closing several of their video rental locations across the country as well. Last count it was 63 stores they were closing..

By the way, La Senza is still owned by Victoria Secret and Victoria Secret made their first foray into the Canadian market that I know of by opening up shop at YVR in Vancouver...could this pave the way for them to open more Victoria Secret stores?

if you look at their FB page it says right there that LaSenza Canada is not impacted

I find this really hard to believe.

With all the re-vamp and new products la senza canada/usa has done to compete with victorias secret I find it so strange they would close down.

As for La Senza UK, I believe it.

Apparently the Shoppers World location was down $35,000 last year.

have you ever been into that mall? it's disgusting. so no surprise there.
