May I suggest not eating at Subway unless it's free? That place is disgusting! I used to work there and I assure you it is not healthy. There is high fructose corn syrup in the bread and the salt and pepper has hydrogenated fat in it for some inexplicable reason. Plus the veggies are gross and usually don't get washed. And don't even get me started on the horror that is cold cut trio.
Just stay away...seriously...and it's a ridiculous rip off. Sandwiches are cheap.
Anyway, just my two cents but I can pretty much guarentee that if you knew what you knew what you were eating at Subway you wouldn't want to anymore, especially not at the prices they are charging.

not sure where you are located, I am on Vancouver Island too...and my daughter works for Subway in Nanaimo, I can assure you that place is spotless...she tells me everything because she is used to working in restaurants...perhaps the one exitmanifesto is talking about was not a sanitary place, but the ones my daughter has worked at (Chemainus, and Nanaimo) are very clean.

Oh no no don't get me wrong. It wasn't that our restaurant was unclean (this was a couple years ago so I fully admit that Subway as a company could've changed)...it was on Vancouver Island too actually, in Victoria. I'm just saying that the food provided to the franchise was of extremely low quality. Weird chemicals and sugar in the bread, low quality vegetables, questionable meat.
You're right, it's probably the same across the board I was just throwing in my personal experience with Subway which is after seeing the quality of the ingredients I don't think it's worth what they charge.
Sorry I wasn't trying to start an arguement or anything or insult workers of Subway.

I s'pose it might be the case that you'd hear horror stories from just about everywhere. I like Subway and that's pretty much the only place DH and I go to outside of the grocery store when we're looking for some eats. There's a show on TV called 'Undercover Boss' in which the higher ups of company ABC head out in disguise and work with the employees of that establishment to get a feel for how the company is run from the ground level and what customers think, and the guy last night was a Chief....something.....Officer from Subway. The employees seemed pretty darn happy, but there was this underlying 'KEEP COSTS LOW AND PROFITS AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE' message pretty much every time he spoke, so I wouldn't doubt Exitmanifesto for a second! I'll still go in for my sandwiches, though, because I doubt the alternatives are a heck of a lot better.
I usually just use a stamps card but I wouldn't mind some good coupons.

just and FYI the majority of all bread is made with some sugar, it helps to proof the yeast.
(fluffy bread)
Fast food is just that fast and you dont have to do it. IMHO I would pick Subway over KFC any day.

They don't have coupons as often as other fast food places but sometimes they do come with the flyers. Also, entertainment book usually have some coupons for subway so that might be a source for some trades.
I also have an auction on right now which includes a subway GC (see siggy) and depending on what I get for offers, I have another Subway GC to give to the second/ maybe third place bidders...so goon over and take a look. It is over tomorrow.Looking for: Yogurt (FPCs)

There is a coupon book called Treasures, available for most major cities. The cost of the book is about $34, for my area anyway. It is filled with 2 for 1 coupons and there are several Subway ones. I would send you some but they are city specific. Maybe someone in your area has the book and you could do a trade or look at purchasing the book. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for all the feed back!! I agree that most fast food places in general are not healthy. As are a lot of restaurants that you would think would have quality standards. We do not eat out for the reason, but of the choices Subway still is my choice. Maybe it is a mental thing, cause I can see it get made and it looks like real vegetables.

sugar is use as the activation of yeast without this it be hard for the yeast to grow 10x its size. What many people don't know is that eggs were know to give the bread a hard crust and the milk was to help to keep it longer. But homemade bread doesn't use eggs or milk...at least my recipes never had eggs or milk in it.
I like subway and I am assured there is horror stories everywhere...even ones I can tell you at the places I went to work at as a cook.
Yet even Biggest Looser promotes Subway as a healthy alternative...Live, Love, Laugh
