Custom duties for a laptop purchased from US ?

Hi,

Can someone please help me to find out how much I will pay custom duties if I buy a laptop from US ?
I live in Quebec and I'm planning to buy a laptop from Walmart in US, and come back in the same day. So I will travel less than 24 hours.
I will pay around 300$ for a brand new laptop.

you will not have to pay duty on a laptop

But my suspicion is you will pay, just check the customs website for the details

I had to pay ~$60 for my husband's $300 iPod when I had it shipped via Canada post from the states. The lady came to my door and made me pay customs to her before she delivered my ipod. Not sure if the same rules apply when you're actually at the border though....

Do NOT not tell them. Report what you paid, do not try to hide it. You can get in some doo-doo for not reporting stuff and it'll make future trips across the border not so pleasant.

This would be the worst weekend to try and sneak something back.
What you would pay is your sales tax, I'm not sure what it is there.

In Ontario our sales tax is 13% so we would pay $39.

But if this laptop is a door buster or limited sale pretty slim odds of getting it seeing as most places have had people camping outside since last night.
The bestbuy across the boarder from me had 6 tents pitched up this morning when I was over there around 10.
