I usually use my FPCs at Metro to bring down my total while still earning Air Miles during bonus AM events. For example, during the last spend $60/$80/$100 get 20/40/60 AMs event before Christmas, I spent $0 OOP and earned 70 AMs by using up my expiring FPCs then immediately donated the products in the Food Box bin at the front of the store. But even doing so, collecting AMs to get a $20 Metro GC (my aim) takes a while now that it costs 175 AMs (remember the good ol’ days when they used to be 100 AMs?)
So when I was sorting through my expiring flyers this evening for recycling, I paused when this caught my eye:
600 points, I thought? Was that a lot or is it like HBC points which requires 80K to earn a $10 GC? I couldn’t remember since I rarely (I’m talking once/yr) shop there because it’s $$$ and when they do have the odd great sale item, I price match elsewhere. So I went online and looked it up:
I almost . I scrambled to my stash and counted the number of Stouffer’s Sensations FPCs I had left. SEVEN! I quickly did the math and couldn’t believe it. I grabbed the FPCs, my Club Sobey’s Card, threw on a coat, and out the door I went.
Now not only do I have enough emergency meals to last more than a year (I add fresh spinach, zucchini, and red peppers to the chicken parmigiana to make it healthier) but in one fell swoop, I earned enough points for a $30 Sobey’s GC which I will redeem online and use it at Price Chopper/Freshco. to give me the best bang for my GC buck.
Saving these FPCs to use at Metro would have been nowhere near the same deal. Even IF there had been a promo for 10AM WUB (1) Stouffer’s Sensations during a 20 AMs bonus WUS $60 (all the stars would have to align for this to happen together), that would only earn 90 AMs or just over halfway to a $20 GC. So needless to say, I am doing a and will be more attentive during Sobey’s Mega Points events from now on.

Great brag!
I love the Sobeys mega-points deals, too! Did you notice that, also this past week, you could use the FPC Aero Chocolate (from the Carnation Hot Chocolate box) to earn 300 bonus points?

Just awesome - lucky you had a keen eye to spot that at the last moment!!
I hear you about the expensive stores. I rarely shop at the "S" stores here, Sobey's and Safeway.
But I have started to pay closer attention as they both have some hot deals from time to time.

Wow, great strategy using FPCs to get Sobey's points to use as "money" at FreshCo. Way to work the points and gift cards.
