I'm a student at the U of A and enjoy participating in research studies and getting paid. It's a great way to support research and make a little extra cash. Check out:

if you want to sign up. I get e-mails every month or so inviting me to participate and usually get about $20 for an hour (though many payouts are based on your decisions to motivate you!)This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by kschott; Wed, Feb 29th, 2012 at 05:49 PM.

It varies a lot and most are a bit complex to explain. I've recently done two experiments that simulate a silent auction system in which you pretend you're a farmer making decisions about participating in wetland reclamation. The projects tend to be quite interesting.

I hope they don't turn me into a radio active unicorn lol.
Thanks for sharing it seems like it is not for medical experiments but for sociology experiments, this could be a fun way to make some extra cash.

Hahaha, good point; this is NOT medical research. It's also not regular sociology/psychology which for some reasons really likes the application of electric shocks in their experiments. This is for the faculty of agricultural, life, and environmental sciences which includes departments such as human ecology and rural sociology. They will always very clearly explain the potential risks to you (though I've never participated in a study that had any). I generally find participating quite interesting!

I didn't know about the one in ALES! There are also paid research studies from the School of Business: https://apps.business.ualberta.ca/re...r/Default.aspx

Nice. I participated in some when I was in school. They were linguistic, psychology (finger print research), new computer apps, etc.
LF: Chapman's ice cream and Dare coupons.
DS has a peanut allergy so it's the ONLY ones we buy.
Lots FT.

I just got out of a session and made $50.50 in less than an hour and a half! It was based on my decision-making and bidding but you are basically gauranteed $20 just for doing it. They have more sessions available next week.
Just so everyone knows, these are almost exclusively during work hours as they mostly just want to get people and students are easier to recruit during daytime hours.

Thanks so much op, I'm a u of a student too and I've never even heard of this! I signed up last week and did that same auction experiment where I made $58.25 in about an hour! Plus I got an email invite today for an identical experiment
