I have decided to try and lose some weight before the summer. However I can't do it full throttle as most do due to a physical injury and am NOT comfortable in a gym. I'd really like to try and do it at home (esp. on bad days) using a 'gaming' system. So my question is considering *I* will be the only one to use this its going to be for exercise only. ie dance, zubma, some sports etc. which would be my best option. Wii which needs the remotes in hand or on the body to work.. or Xbox360 which only requires an 'eye' to track you. I need easy. turn on. insert disc. and GO! so who has what.. and if anyone has one lying around they don't want. let me know

I can't speak to the gaming system, but there are lots of super easy routines to get fit at home. When I lived with my ex, we had dance dance revolution (I think it was on gamecube???), which was a fun way to get sweating. As long as you're into what you're doing and motivated, I'm sure that either system would work.

In addition to (and cheaper than) the xbox/wii, you might want to look into getting some tension bands (like big rubber bands) and some handweights. These are both good for doing some low-impact resistance exercises that can be done in the privacy of your own home and without causing too much strain to your body and joints.

Whatever you pick, start slow. I started doing home workouts in 2004 and at first did them 3X per week. I now work out at home 5X per week and love it! I have no excuse not to do it (I can't beg off on it taking too long to go to a gym, being too embarrassed to exercise in front of strangers, or not having time - all things that I used to say ALL the time) when it's as simple as coming downstairs and doing some weights and a bit of balance exercise. I use a step (gym style) for cardio, a pilates ball for balance and some handweights - about $60 worth of equipment, nothing fancy.

There are also lots of exercise routines online that you can search and modify for whatever your personal needs are (e.g., low impact, focus on core stability, etc.).

Good luck, and high five to you for working on fitness

We have a wii. Find it doesn't always pick up he remote. Which isn't that big of a deal if you just want it to work out. Tried the Xbox Zumba on boxing da at my aunt and uncle's and it is nice not having to hold a remote. Nintendo is coming out with a new system now so price wise the wii has gone down lots
