Most hardcore couponers use binders with baseball card sleeves. I'm only using a wallet-size accordion folder, bought it from Michael's for $1. Highly recommended for lightweight couponers.
I organize by date, each slot for a month. Since it is so small, I carry it in my purse at all times. This strategy works best for me.

Zippered binders from the dollar store with baseball card holders for coupons I trade. And a heavy duty zipper binder with baseball card holders I got on clearance with after school specials for coupons I will use, HV and FPC.
I got smart and got sheet protectors from the dollar store. I have a seal and store that never got use and used that to divide it in half for larger coupons.

I use a medium sized fabric bag (kind of similar to Anne's but not anything fancy). I feel that walking into a store with a big binder pigeonholes me as a "couponer" and I prefer to be less conspicuous. In my "bag" I have a plastic divider (dollar shop kind - where I have modified it to fit nicely) and I have index cards to clearly label all the sections - for me and my family these are the sections that work best ....
FPCs
Dairy
Coffee
Drinks
Bread
Pasta
Dressings
Canned Goods
Frozen
Prepared foods
Deli Foods
Snacks
Baking
then -
Paper goods
Shampoo/soaps
Teeth Products
Beauty products
Mens
Medications
Cleaners
Laundry
Misc (batteries etc)
Dog Food
It has a pocket on the outside where I stick the coups that I am going to use as I go through the store..... Sometimes I have a little baggie on top where I put the coups that I expect to use that week --- or where they might be expiring soon and I hope to find a good deal for them....
This works for me - I haven't left it behind - I don't have to spend a lot of time fitting weird sized coupons into slots....and it didn't cost much!

I have 2 accordion style holders. 1 smaller one from WM for my regular everyday use, 1 larger one from Dollarama for FPC's, go coupons, anything that is HV really. Here at home I also have an accordion style as well as my desk that is full of different piles, envies, seperators, paper clips and whatever else Im forgetting to mention. I know, sound like a mess but its my mess and I know whats where as long as my kids dont touch my desk!!!

When I first started everyone said binder!! I went out bought 4 of the biggest binders I could find bought huge box of card holders and tons of divider pages and went to work!! By month 6 they were all popping open and I was a wreck!! That was it!!! I bought 4 medium size accordion style folders from the dollar store: food, other, trade,USA . And I have not gone back
good luck to everyone that finds something that works for them

At first I used the accordion. but for me, I found I was doing a lot of searching and digging for those surprise finds that you see on clearance. then I found clear, zippered pouches that fit inside one another at extra foods. More digging.
I know it's more pricey, but Martha Stewart came out with a line at staples now. The binder is excellent quality and small She makes plastic inserts in three shapes. One has four dividers on it (fits most coupons) another is divided in two (longer coupons) and then one big pouch for those really long ones. The tops on those last two are fold over plastic. I find that for me, I can find things easier now. There are also fabric pouches in front and back that I put my flyer match up coupon bundles in. There are also dividers. I divide mine by food, grooming, baby, tissues, etc. It's what I use now and I love love love it!
To each their own. Hope you find your fix soon! Makes a big difference when you don't feel disorganized!

I too use an accordian file thing I bought at Staples ages ago. I think it's cheque size or so. If I can't keep it in my purse, I know I will either leave it somewhere or not bring it. It's worked well for me for many many years.
