I went through the SDM flyer this morning and before I knew it, I had over $50 in items I wanted to purchase. I went over my list again as I didn't want to spend more than the $50 and gathered my coupons and off I went.
Once I got to SDM my plan had to change. I was wanting to get the Tide that was on sale for $4.99 but my SDM didn't have any HE Tide and thats the kind I need, so I thought for a few minutes and decided to look around at what else I could buy to make up for the $19.xx.
Got my items and had a rough estimate in my head (forgot my calculator) of what my total would be and made my way to the checkout. I told the cashier I wanted to know what my total was after she finished scanning all my items.
Here's what I got:
3x Christie Sensations - just noticed that one of them rang up at $3.49
and they were on sale for $1.99 - $7.47 - $1.50 = $5.97 - I will go back to that SDM this week and get a SCOP for the one that rang up wrong.
2x Scotch tape - $2.00 x2 = $4.00 - regular price was $5.xx each
1x Life Brand Salsa - $1.99
1x Stayfree Pads - $1.99
1x Kraft Singles Cheese Slices - $2.99
2x Delmonte Fruit Cups - $1.99 x2 = $3.98
1x Carnation Hot Chocolate - $3.99 - $1.00 = $2.99
1x Sour Cream - $1.99
2x Schneiders Hot Dogs - $2.50 x2 = $5.00
3x Electrasol Tabs - $3.00 x3 = $9.00 - $8.00 = $1.00

3x Gillette Shave Gel - $1.99 x3 = $5.97 - $5.00 = $.97

1x Kraft Peanut Butter - $2.49
1x Wilton Muffin Liners - $.99
Subtotal before tax and coupons - $51.85 - not bad for having to reconfigure my plan
I give the cashier my optimum card and then hand her the coupons. She proceeds to tell me I won't get the 20x the points because I'm using coupons and I have to spend $50.00 to get the points. I told her I did spend the $50.00 as my subtotal was $51.85. She told me I wouldn't get the points, although I knew differently. I told her to ring in my coupons and after I finish paying, I'll get the 20x points. She didn't think I would, but I knew I would. Low and behold, I got 20x the points!!!
Subtotal - $51.85 plus $2.69 HST
= $54.54
Coupons used - $19.00
Total paid - $39.04
Points earned
Regular - 510
Product bonus - 360 - not sure what these are for
Store bonus - 9690
Total points earned - 10,560
I know have enough points to redeem for $60.00
- working my way back up!!!

that's awesome. When I've been told I don't have enough points (and I know I do) I shrug and say "oh ok." Then I look at the receipt before I walk away to make sure I have them, stick my tongue out at cashier and do my happy dance out the door. (Just joking about the last part)

It's interesting how we know more about SDM points then the cashiers
I had one a few months back insist I wouldn't get my points and I just asked her to put the order through and then showed her the receipt, she was floored!!!!!!!!!!! If I ever need a part time job I'm heading there, any couponers will love me
I could bring my coupon binder and gift them to those that are buying things I have coupons for

Good job! Exact same thing happened to me with the cashier today - lol. She was really surprised when I asked her to check my receipt for the points before she handed it to me.

Last bonus event I had two cashiers telling me I wouldn't get my points because I didn't have enough after coupons. I told them that I would and that I'd take the chance. Of course, I did get the points and both cashiers were surprised about it. You have to know what you're doing because the store personnel don't know how it works.
