Yea, the entertainment was good if you were into rock. All the good local bands played there (Goddo, Rush, Mornington Drive etc. etc.) The outdoor patio with the quarts was pretty good too. I couldn't believe a few years ago there was a Dollar store in place of it!! and Young Station well its been a strip club for years. Geez.......

Yup, hung out at the Gasworks just about every time Goddo was there, mid 70's.....I was there at their first year celebration of being together as a band.....there was maybe 10 people in the audience???!?.....and omg, the sights you saw when you went to the bathrooms......makeout sessions (girl/guy, girl/girl, guy/guy), IV drug users....like Arte Johnsom from Laugh-In used to say....."Verrrrry interesting".....LOL!!!!....TR

OMG!! You were there too! Our paths must have crossed too! I don't remember being there for Goddo's first year celebration but maybe I was. I seen those guys alot, wonder I can still hear properly!!! I would take turns with a friend of mine she wanted to see a tribute band for Genesis that was there quite a bit and I'd go for Goddo. Yea the washrooms were pretty nuts, I'd get in and out as quick as I could! (don't remember seeing any of the IV stuff (thankfully) Those were the days!

anyone remember the name of the violinist who used play with his face/head all covered with bandages? i think he used to play the hotel isabella a lot.

That was Nash the Slash. He was also in the group FM.



One interesting project of his that I remember reading about; he would provide the musical accompaniment, on an organ, to silent films at revue theaters. He did The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Nosferatu.

Venue notes: Larry's Hideaway, Toronto
Defunct punk club (expired sometime around the beginning of 1986). Was located at 121 Carlton St. Very good article by Cameron Gordon about the place here ("I've been to other dives in other cities, provinces and states but there was no other bar that could match the raunch of Larry's Hideaway. Truly the filthiest, most degrading bar I've ever ventured into," recalls one wistful patron). Property bought by city in 1993, now part of Allen Gardens.
I remember it well. LOL

Wow, yea I remember it being somewhat sleezy, the area it was in didn't help) but I went for the good music. I don't know why he called it a punk club, maybe it got to be that way later) The timing when I went it had some pretty good rock bands (can't remember all their names right now) Thanks for your input!

With a lack of "interesting" prizes in the Club Q Vault at the moment (I rarely enter any MM draws), I'm considering dumping all my points on this. Mind you, dumping 3000 points on the Air Show didn't get me on the deck of the HMCS Montreal, lol.
