I stand corrected. My Australian buddy says they're not because he has handled them a couple of times. I told him was lucky and snt him a website that says they are but he says Bullsh%#.

Platypus is one of the few venomous mammals. The male platypus delivers a poison, causing severe pain to humans, through a spur on its hind foot.

He is very lucky i saw a documentary on a guy who was stung by one and it took the doctors two weeks to find out how to combat his pain, he was in excruciating pain and his arm was very swollen, the pain killers even morphine just made it worse, they actually had to develop a special serum that is the only thing that would work on a platypus sting. They said that he was the only reported case of a sting they had ever dealt with. who would thunk, cute is deadly painful.
