Remembering the Hockey Hall of Fame when it was at the CNE,
Also if memory serves me correctly, the admission there was free,
It was more of a museum with memorabilia, trinkets & stats,
Look at the old time pictures & engage in friendly chats,
The guys who made it to the NHL were only a select few,
They weren’t in it for the money, just a dream they did pursue,
Long before the days of lucrative deals & contracts to line the pocket,
If he were playing in today’s world, how much would they pay the Rocket?
The boards are cluttered with ads now & it doesn’t seem as pure,
Money is front & centre, & for that you can be sure,
Different times, bring different things & hockey still captivates us,
No longer do the teams travel on a chartered Greyhound bus,
So many teams, so many players, & the season goes long into spring,
But, even though it’s changed so much, hockey still does have that zing,
Just some memories that came to mind this morning when I got up,
& Loocie actually remembers when The Leafs won the Stanley Cup!

Your Thursday Funny
A teacher asks her class, 'If there are 5 birds sitting on a fence and you shoot one of them, how many will be left?'
She calls on little Ralphy.
He replies, 'None, they will all fly away with the first gunshot.'
The teacher replies, 'The correct answer is 4, but I like your thinking..'
Then little RALPHY says, 'I have a question for YOU.
There are 3 women sitting on a bench having ice cream:
One is delicately licking the sides of the triple scoop of ice cream.
The second is gobbling down the top and sucking the cone.
The third is biting off the top of the ice cream..
Which one is married?'
The teacher, blushing a great deal, replied, 'Well, I suppose the one that's gobbled down the top and sucked the cone.'
To which Little RALPHY replied, 'The correct answer is 'the one with the wedding ring on,' but I like your thinking.

One day, during lessons on proper grammar, the teacher asked for a show of hands from those who could use the word 'beautiful' in the same sentence twice.
First, she called on little Suzie, who responded with, 'My father bought my mother a beautiful dress and she looked beautiful in it.'
'Very good, Suzie,' replied the teacher. She then called on little Michael.
'My mommy planned a beautiful banquet and it turned out beautifully.'
She said, 'Excellent, Michael!' Then the teacher reluctantly called on little RALPHY.
'Last night at the dinner table, my sister told my father that she was pregnant, and he said 'Beautiful, just freaking beautiful!''

What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
They both look good until they hit the ice.

At the risk of starting an Oxford/Webster-like debate rivalling our snow tire/all-season radial one:

Loocie's Hockey Hall of Fame post also got me to thinking... is the old home of the HoF still standing? Or have they bulldozed it for parking? I think it was a flea market the last time I was at the CNE?
Here's a great pic. Remember the Bulova Tower?
Back in the days before cellphones, if you didn't want to bring your watch to the CNE, this was the most reliable way to figure out how much time you had to hit the rides before hitting the show at the Grandstand.
And speaking of the Grandstand....
Are any of you old enough to remember THIS incarnation? What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
They both look good until they hit the ice.
