Is the risk of going bust dependant on the number of grabs or is it dependant on the dollar value reached. I think the $900 whether it took 2 grabs to get there or 6 and it gets really iffy around $1500.

For the 1340 data (Wilder) there is no risk until the 5th grab, which is significantly less than an even bet, after that the rewards are not worth chasing.

For the 1740 data (Mitchell) there is a 1 in 7 risk on the 3rd grab and a 1 in 6 risk on the 4th grab, but both are well-rewarded. The 5th grab has a 60% risk of busting, with less than a 25% reward, and things go pretty much the same after that.

So my recommendations are to go for the 3rd and 4th grab regardless, and the 5th only if you haven't hit your desired payout. Play slightly more agressively if Derringer calls you, go for the 5th grab unless you are really satisfied with the payout after the 4th.

Since we don't know the protocols being used, if there are any, all of this is really just guesswork based on a rear-view mirror look at a relatively small sample of 21 contestants.
