Hello!
So I went grocery shopping after work today, used a couple coupons, not really brag worthy, but definitely RANt worthy.
So me and my bf have a system, he loads everything up,i bag everything.
Usually when the cashier has someone bagging stuff in a belt, they put your stuff in another belt so you can start bagging,
well this cashier didnt, and the elderly person that was bagging their stuff was obviously taking longer that I would have which isnt a huge deal.
SO Im waiting and waiting and she's piling up my stuff near the front of the conveyor belt so i cant reach anything.
After the gentleman leaves, i go to press the button to move the belt, and she steps on the pedal
(im not sure if everyone knows this, but most grocery stores have a pedal that they step on to move the groceries down the belt. I know because i worked in a grocery store once)
thats fine and dandy, but as im bagging, she keeps her foot on it!
and all my food is getting squished!
my milk and bread and boxes were all smoooshed together because she kept her foot on the pedal so everything was getting squished against everything else.
I say, ''Um excuse me? ur squishing my groceries!''
and she ignores me..
so im like fine, so I keep bagging.
Finally she lets go.
So I bag more and then she does it again!
Im like ''Hello? my groceries are getting squished!''
and again she ignores me!
GAAAAh
If I wasnt already exhausted I would have said more.

OMG that is so rude! I miss the good ol days when bags were free and the cashier packed everything away nicely themselves!

sheesh, it's hard enough to get the bread home unmangled without the cashier doing it for you BEFORE you leave the store & before you can even pack it! grrr! total rant worthy!

Very easy solution for the next this happens. If you are able to get back up to where she is, lean over and stay STOP MOVING THE DAMN BELT!!!! Or if you are at the other end, yell the above so that the entire store can her you. I am pretty sure the belt will stop in a big hurry!

I would've told her to void all the smushed stuff and hold up the line while you go get replacements. WTH!!??

Frustrating! I hate when they bang the hell out of the fruit. We had one cashier at Safeway like that and my DH and I call them Bam Bam. She would take the fruit from the scale and bam in on the other side like her arm was broken. All you can do is avoid those cashiers or complain

I totally get what you mean here OP. I don't like when they move the stuff too fast either. Too bad she ignored you that much, not nice at all. Had to laugh at weave's dad's comment.

I would go right up to her and say hey now because you ignored me and because now my food is all messed up, i want you to get someone to get me replacements as I am not taking home food that is all massed up because of you!

You could of returned all the items that were squashed...you should of contacted a manager and simply return everything. Why pay for squashed food.

I would have flipped out lol and made her replace my bread and anything squished. Sometimes people need a loud "HEY! wake up" just to get them out of their funk.
