Depends upon the age... but Owl and Chickadee are great

I couldn't find Canadian Geographic for kids, but here's National Geographic for kids, can order from Canada - there is for kids, and little kids

Highlights is a great kids' magazine, but it's quite pricey to get it sent to Canada

As a kid, I got a lot more out of Highlights than I did out of OWL magazines (except that my dad's old classroom OWL magazines from the seventies were much better than the ones we were ordering in the eighties)... though I don't think the age range should be more than 8 years for Highlights. I remember moving from Highlights and OWL to Reader's Digest magazines by Grade 4.
    Natalka and glowworm2k like this.

Seconded that Readers' Digest magazines can be great for kids I remember reading these at my grandparents' house when I was about 8 or 9 as they always had a giant stack in the bathroom.

My other favourite was a really old stack of Popular Mechanics magazines that my Dad had in the 1950s and 1960s. My grandparents had saved quite a number of them, and they used to have lots of mechanical things for children to build that I loved (although a lot of those activities, without significant parental involvement instead of the 'do-it-yourself' descriptions would probably be considered "terrible parenting" in this day and age!!! )

I would also suggest checking thrift stores for old copies of children's magazines. If you can find a few older ones of any of the series Natalka mentioned, then you can take a look at what's inside and see if the contents look like the kinds of things your children would like.
