Building a retaining wall at home, not very tall but pretty long... a full 80 feet about 24" tall average...

These are what I needed:


I'm trying to keep the entire project under $500, so I had to do some smart shopping...

First off I called around, Home Depot was $5.97, Home hardware was $5.69.. Found a nice guy at Home hardware though, said he could do contractor price at $4.99 each.. Thought I remembered seeing something at Home Depot about price guarantee, and find that they will BEAT any competitior's price by 10%... So that brings it down to $4.49 each

Also have a very good friend that will buy them for me with his Status Card saving me all the tax! (I live on native land)

For just the lumber, instead of being $534.91 taxes in, I'll be paying $359.20 total

STOKED! Saved almost $200!!

Well HOLY CRAP! I DID IT!

All brought home safe & sound:



Ended up getting an even BETTER deal!

$5.97ea regular price, so regular price after tax would be $534.91

Ended up price matching $4.49ea, with 10% price match discount, and no tax, I paid $323!!!!!!!!!!!

if you don't mind my asking as hubby is looking at building a deck this weekend. how did you get the price quote from the guy at Home hardware if you were going to go to HD. you would think he'd say you only get that deal if you buy from us. i'd love to go to our HH and see if we could do the same thing. were looking at buying a whole lot more wood.

Doesn't hurt to ask if they can quote you at a lower price than Home Depot, the guy I talked to loved the idea of making HD lose money, LOL
