So how did your Earth hour go?
I'm a purist. The idea is not just lights, but any superfluous appliances, etc that could be turned off. For a second year in a row, I just flipped every circuit breaker to the off position.
Made do with a low energy consumption LCD flashlight. I didn't even let the fact that there was a Montreal Toronto game get in the way as it appears to have for some. Which was OK cause Montreal lost that one.

We did it, but we also flipped the breaker so we had NO electricity at all. We used some candles to see. My kids were not thrilled, my 6 month old was totally freaked out, and my 5 year old said it was boring not having anything to do...lol..

I like the circuit breaker method, though that does require resetting some clocks. Mind you I'm not sure if it is as much of a learning experience this way. I wonder if we shouldn't see what we can do without being on on a regular basis
My 2 year old son was already asleep by that time, and my wife read some Harry Potter to my 6 year old son.
Luckily heating is never a big issue in my condo, we are in a garden unit so, the walls are 18 inches thick, this keeps us cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter without a tremendous cost to do so. Abmient temperature is about 20 degrees celcius.
