My brother, who used to work for Rogers, now uses TekSavvy and I think we are switching shortly. He is Mr. Techie and he swears by it.

We are with Techsavvy too and am very happy. We have wireless and I download a ton of stuff, seems like no limit, lol.

If it's your first time, go with Acanac for one year, and then switch to Techsavvy.

I just switched to Teksavvy only to find out that they are no longer able to offer an unlimited package. Their new rates are capped at 25GB and then you have to purchase extra units of insurance if you need more than that. The new rates will be effective March 1st. I am staying with them anyway because I will not have to pay the modem lease I did with Bell and even adding insurance to have 65 GB per month is still cheaper than what I was paying. I have just had too many billing and throttling issues with Bell to stay with them. I wish I had switched alot sooner.

i have been with Techsavvy from last 3 months and like it. Switched from bell. Techsavvy is cheaper as compared to bell and their service is also good. With new rates coming this march i am still going to stick with techsavvy.

I'm working on haggling with my companies now, to see if I can get better rates. If you're okay with your current package besides the price, maybe see if they can reduce your bill. I don't know how much you're paying so I can't say which specific companies to mention are cheaper, but a bit of research and you should have enough info to present a pretty convincing case.

Were also with Teksavvy and have been for at least over a year now (maybe 2 years, I don't know lol) and we love their service. We're also not going to switch once the new rates start.

Another Teksavvy user here, even with the new rates they are still cheaper than Bell and Rogers

couponmummy mentioned unlimited plans, they were just forced by the CRTC to stop their unlimited plans, like mentioned by leslie, I still find it cheaper to use an insurance package for extra bandwidth under the new plans than to switch back to Bell (whose service was awful)

Acanac still claims to have unlimited, but they have until March to make the switch so I guess their price structure will change soon, we chose Teksavvy over Acanac based on reviews of the actual service and customer service

What plan do you have with Rogers now?

Take all costs of switching in Consideration and also some other internet providers are not available in all areas. Techsavvy is not available in Kitchener so you might want to check that. If you want to switch to Bell you'll end up paying almost the same thing and installation fees. I've been pricing around for months (I'm with Rogers too) and haven't really found a good alternative as I want I real stable connection and a provider that does this area. Recently Yak.ca had sent some stuff in the mail and have internet available in these areas but I read a few reviews and their was a lot of talk of down time. Rogers modem rental price is going up from 3 to $4 on March 1st too. I have my services bundled which helps a little but I agree these costs are getting outrageous.

I am with 3 WEB ( Cia.com ) .. I currently pay only $ 24.95/month for UNLIMITED high speed internet - no bandwidth cap or anything .. I probably use more than 100 GB a month as I downlaod movies + Video stream etc a lot .

    https://www.cia.com/locale.html;jses....banff1_worker

Even when the new CRTC usage based billing crap comes in March ..I will still stay with 3 WEB and won't go to BELL or ROGERS ..will just reduce my internet usuage .

I am not sure but I was told that the unlimited plans will be grandfathered if you have been with these small independent providers like Teksavvy , ACANAC , 3 WEB . Cybersurf if you have been with them prior to Jan 1 , 2007 .

I have been with 3 WEB for almost 9 yrs now ..so hopefully my plan is grandfathered when they are forced to cap the GB by CRTC & its cronies BELL , TELUS , SHAW & ROGERS

CRTC is useless toothless watchdog which favours the corporations like BELL , TELUS , SHAW , ROGERS etc instead of protecting consumers like us .

Lot of the people sitting on the CRTC board of directors are ex ROGERS & BELL employees

Question for the people that have switched. Where you offline for long when you did the switch? That is my biggest concern. My husband works from home and we can't afford the down time.

No the switch is pretty fast .

In my case BELL was delibrately trying to slow down the other guys connection after I went with them ..but after 2-3 days it was fine & I started getting the fast speed .

But for the first 2-3 days it was like I was on dial up & not high speed ..3 WEB even warned me about this ..they said BELL will try to screw around initially to make them ( 3 WEB ) look bad & slow ..so that I will go back to BELL ..LOL
