oh that's just super!
and?
Well that makes me feel safe!
Comforting :disgust:
Bah. They don't have ANY uranium capable of making a nuke. They have managed to enrich uranium to 3.5%. They have new centrifuges in the works that may be able to enrich it to 20%(a few have). But 90% u-235 is required for a working bomb. They're years away. Yes, they have enough uranium but only if they are able to enrich it ALOT further, which they don't have the capacity to do now.
Yes, Israel will smite them if they continue on this path, but that isn't imminent.
and if Iran has nukes, who cares?
just because a few power hungry leaders are complaining about other power hungry leaders, does it mean that we need to take any of it seriously?
i say they should all have nukes, lots of them, hooray!
You have a point. Who'd go to war with anyone if everyone had nukes? Thing is the religious nutters (like Al'Qaeda) might if they ever got their hands on them or got control over a nation with them (like Pakistan). 72 virgins and all, yes? I wish these weapons didn't exist, though they did prevent a massive war between west and east from the 40s to the late 80s, since there could be no winner. And the leaders on both sides were rational.
The ones who scare me are the ones who don't care if there's no winner because they believe God/Allah is going to take care of and reward them afterwards.
Nukes are a wonderful deterrent for sane people, but frightening in the hands of the less sane.
We can't put the genie back in the bottle though.
pakistan has nukes and conservative folk, but they don't care about nuking everyone. they aren't stupid :)
i'm sure it is the same with iran.
Absolutely agreed. The military in Pakistan is not suicidal, nor is the government. But both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are actively fighting inside Pakistan and it's hard to say how far they have penetrated into the government and military. It's unlikely, but if they did gain control, I'd find people willing to blow themselves up as well as others, in the name of Allah, rather frightening.
Iran is already controlled by Islamist fundamentalists, and what they would do with the bomb is anyone's guess. Fortunately that is years off. Maybe dipliomacy will work.
Well canadians are suppose to be user friendly..geez it comes across like i'm some kind of detergent..lol.... meant, we are friendly people  ..and yes, my english isnt that great..c'est la vie!
Yeah, the 3 of them together have about 450 warheads. They could theoretically kill up to 2 billion people if the 3 went at each other in all-out war. Can't see that happening though. Pakistan and India maybe, but they have a good deterrent not to do it. In the absence of the crazies taking over, that is.
i don't know about taliban/alqaeda actively fighting in pakistan. it's not like there is a civil war or something. the gov't is trying to keep taliban types from spreading too much in a specific region that borders afghanistan i think. they haven't penetrated into the military. the military is very selective and exclusive and what matters is who you know.
they have enough trouble with the countryy's diverse cultures hating each other, they aren't interested in nuking anyone.
anybody willing to bomb anyone is frightening. the ones who are s. bombers are pawns used by ppl who have their own political agendas, in my opinion.
most of the country is not conservative. might look like it to outsiders, but they really aren't. their kids are more spoiled than most that i see here.
i have never seen or heard anything about iran that has ever made me think of them as a real threat. yes, their neighbors, near and far, keep saying things about them but what are the real reasons?
sorry for being so brief, because i could go on and on ;p
