I have managed to pick up a little thorn or piece of metal or fibreglass or something in my thumb. No big deal but it irritates when I touch things. My mother always used to put a poultice on things like that - like splinters that wouldn't come out claiming a little paste of hard hand soap and sugar covered with a bandaid would "draw it out" and sure enough - it did. Now here's my dilemna - was it sugar with the soap, or salt? Does anyone remember a home remedy like this?

ha ha , I do not know about a poultice avon , but no one could say they had a chest congestion type thing near my Mom, because before you knew it she was tying a big cloth folded to make it able to hold a great many peeled cloves of garlic inside. Stunk to high heaven ( if you are a kid, garlic is usually not a pleasant aroma) but she claimed it broke up the phloem. Who argues with a mad Italian lady. lol!!
