Has anyone ever had vertigo? I got diagnosed today. Does anyone know how to ease the symptoms? I can't handle the "Just went on a roller coaster 2334534 times" feeling. It was so bad and I was so 'spinning' last night, I couldn't stop being sick (you know what I mean? lol..)

    Oh, that's too bad, Bella.

How you deal with it and treat it depends a lot upon what the cause of it is - the specific diagnosis. That should have been given to you after your testing, whether you had an ENG, auditory response test, etc.

I started getting vertigo in my late 20s (other than just previously feeling 'dizzy' when up high somewhere, etc.) - this was very severe.
After testing, I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, an inner ear disorder.
I was prescribed medication for it at first, but it really did nothing, so I haven't been on anything since.
For me, it's just a matter of managing the symptoms, because for me the vertigo varies - it comes without warning and can be short-lived or long-lasting, there's just no telling.

I usually can't eat, often start vomiting, have ear pain and often tinnitus comes along as well - sometimes this lasts a few hours, sometimes for days on end.

I sip on ginger ale and because one has to eat something, it's usually soda crackers - til I can get some sort of appetite for food.

Since it sounds like your doctor hasn't given you much information, perhaps another visit is in order - you need to know what condition is causing your vertigo.

Oh, and no booze - that's a definite no-no. Decrease caffeine and salt intake drastically.

I wish you luck dealing with this, Bella.

I had it for a period of a week about 1.5 yrs ago. Just woke up in the middle of the night with the world spinning. Then didn't get out of bed for a few days. I get a lot of sinus/ear infections and so I put it down to that. My db gets very dizzy from time to time and he has to go to a motion therapist/physiotherapist who does a very weird body rotation with him. They hold his head steady while they flip his body over. The theory there is that little particles of ..... (don't know what) get stuck in the hairs of his inner ear causing dizzines. This method has worked twice for him - a couple of years apart. Motion/balance specialist at University Hospital in London is the professional involved.
