Right now my linden tree is in full bloom. I love it because it smells wonderful but also because it attracts a lot of butterflies and bees. It looks like this one:

Since last weekend, the lawn's covered in white clover. I actually saw a honeybee among the clover-usually I only see either the bumblebees or the stinging hornets or wasps.
Butterflies have been scarce but two weeks ago, I saw a cool looking one near a bridge.
oh the smell of linden tree is great, you can dry the flowers and make tea out of it too. I bought a tree for my parents yard (I'm in a condo) and kind of took it upon myself to plant it there and they humoured me even though its their yard, but it has never flowered. does anyone know if there are male and female trees and only one flowers and smells or something and I maybe got the wrong one?
My yard is a jungle. It's been raining so much and has been warm so everything has taken off. Yeesh.
I hear ya Jays, the weeds are thriving the most sadly.
I made a rather large planter for the back deck and I planted some vegetable transplants. I'm hoping they do well.
The catalpa tree is in full bloom but it will soon be a mosquito haven back there :( I need some bats.
Ours too. It actually hailed last week so my peonies look dead on the ground. Even if they were staked, the petals have all been beaten off. :bawling:
On the bright side, those thistles came out really easily after all the rain..... But yes, we have some really good looking weeds.
Here`s what is blooming in my yard right now:

Spider lily on my balcony. This one is from the walmart bulb package of 3, only 2 came up. I also at the same time bought some purple calla lilies at walmart, but nothing came up :(
omg, tobi! That's amazing! It looks like a very unusual orchid :)
So I have these odd little seedlings growing front and back. At first I thought they were either poison ivy or poison oak. Three leaves, blah blah blah. Didn't dare touch them. Googled the two poisons and my seedlings looked nothing like the images. OK, great, no itchy rash. Today I took another look at the one growing in the front garden and realized there were a few more growing behind the bushy cedar. Then it hit me. OMG, they're OAK TREE SEEDLINGS!!
Damn bloody squirrels burying their nuts over the winter! http://goemaw.com/forum/Smileys/goEM...g_fist.png.gif
