What's blooming in your yard?

Yesterday I had my first blooms in the garden...1 yellow and 1 purple crocus.

I was at my Walmart yesterday, they had beautiful new shipment of gigantic orchids, I believe oncidiums - the ones that have a fleshy bulb like part close to soil - but they were $19,98. Still decent price for what it is, but out of my budget. I'll be checking out the clearance rack in a week or so.

Didn't know Terra had a clearance rack, will have to check. I have a Walmart and a Lowes that have amazing clearance racks - always something amazingly priced and worth at least the pot its in even if the plant doesn't make it.

So far I've had 4 phals, one yellow one doing well and flowering all the time, one stuck with a new little spike poking out but not really growing, one is currently in a plastic bag as I'm trying to grow the roots back using the 'sphag and bag' method, and one rotting away and will likely be garbage. I don't know what I'm doing right with the one that is doing well.

Today is, Plant a Flower Day! Plant a Flower Day is a day to get a little dirt under your fingernails. Take a few minutes to plant a flower today.
Gardening is a great hobby. It's enjoyed by millions of people, old and young alike. Its a hobby that virtually everyone can participate in, regardless of age, and health.
Identifying the correct date for celebrating Plant a Flower Day has proved frustrating and a bit futile. As this day was researched, multiple dates in March and May for Plant a Flower Day; found no content sites defining the day, and no written documentation. No one claimed to be the creator of this day either.
Celebrate today by planting or transplanting any kind of plant. It can be done indoors, or weather permitting, outdoors.

Was shovelling snow from the walks and taking a look at the front yard for broken branches-decided to check the corner where crocuses sprout and there are 4 green stalks with little bulbs about 4 inches off the ground! With today's snow flurries, I'm concerned the floral display might not happen for long after the blooms open.
Well the flowers know whats what (and they are *waiting* for their bloom time. Moved a planter nearby to another spot so the leaves can get a bit more light absorption. This is exciting-spotting the first flower stalks of spring!

snowdrops! i have snowdrops! no picture though, can't quiet get to them yet

I still have a couple of feet of nicely blossoming snow.

Spring comes and many flowers are blooming especially sakura. I love it, but not in my yard:cheesygrin:

I checked today and the crocuses are keeping closed-first time in a few years that they have not opened by March 17. I'm sure the wait will be worthwhile as the bulbs stay snug "indoors". Glad I moved that planter last week, so the sun must be helping the leaves make food.
And that promised snow has been moderately falling since 3pm with a dash of icy pellets around 6pm but that's long over. Still snowing...

Two purple pointy crocus blooms are emerging today! Totally worth my little jaunt outside to collect branches off the lawn this afternoon.:shock:

there has been a stupid rabbit in my yard this winter... there's crap everywhere and all of my plants have gnaw marks on them.. looks like rabbit stew for dinner if i can get my hands on him and wring his scrawny little neck :mad:

remembering what i was told when i called about the darn foxes
ripping a squirrel apart last spring,
added the info of the one on the lawn about to attack my cat.
'it's their habitat - not your cat's'
i'm in scarborough, no one had ever seen a fox before.
with any luck polar bears are next,,, haha.

i could use a fox in my yard :rolleyes:

Crocuses!
I thought the squirrel got them all but there are at least 30 poking their heads up.

Also, hosta is peaking through. Just dug one up and ready to split. Got exercise too:-)

I see tulips tips in the front yard!!!!!

My backyard still has about 2 feet of snow though :(
