For promotional events (e.g. where a customer would need to spend $50
to receive a reward), the following instances are automatically
programmed in ePOS:
If a vendor coupon was used (PLU 2001/PLU 2002), its value will
count towards the promotion total meaning the value of the coupons
will be included in the event purchase threshold
If a store coupon was used (PLU 2003 and up/PLU 4000 series), its
value will be deducted and does not count toward the promotion
total meaning the value of the coupons will not be included in event
purchase threshold

Fabulous--- all I ask is that if you're going to enforce something you need to put it in writing.

Attention: Associate, Front Store Manager and Cashier Manager NATIONAL
Subject: Updated: Operational Reminder – Coupon Acceptance
Date: May 11, 2012
The Coupon Acceptance Policy has been updated to reflect recent system changes and vendor agreements.
Several thousand manufacturer, vendor and Shoppers Drug Mart coupons are redeemed in stores everyday. Due to the many variations of these coupons, it is important to ensure that any coupons being accepted at the register are valid and eligible for credit.
In efforts to provide a positive customer experience, the following guidelines are to be used to identify and determine the validity of the key categorizations of coupons that are to be accepted in-store with the following criteria:
Internet, Vendor, Manufacturer and Shoppers Drug Mart General Coupon Acceptance Standards:
Physical Appearance
o Clear printed barcode
o Must be legible with no signs of tampering
o Printed black and white coupons from the internet and email are accepted. Coupons should indicate “internet coupon” on the face of the coupon.
o Only printed coupons are accepted. Vendor coupons sent to an electronic device (e.g. smartphone) are not accepted.
o Photocopied coupons are not to be accepted. Standard coupons should typically have printing on both the front and back of the coupon as well as printed on a material from an identifiable source (e.g. Newspaper, Magazine, Direct Mailer, etc.)
Coupon Offer Messaging and Legal Statements
o Must have “Manufacturer Coupon” printed on the coupon
o Legal statement/Dealer statement which includes:
Expiry within 12 months
Valid P.O. Box to send for remittance
Note: All Vendor Coupons which meet all acceptance standards can now be sent to Resolve Canada. Stores are not required to sort the Coupons by the various mailing addresses or values.
Resolve Canada
P.O. Box 3000
Saint John, New Brunswick
E2L 4L3
o Consistent offer for specific item – same value or offer should appear in all areas of the coupon. Accepted offers are:
For dollar/cents off
For free items (excludes internet coupons)2 of 3
Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons
o US coupons are not accepted
o Competitors’ coupons are not accepted
Various Shoppers Drug Mart coupon offers as communicated on the In-Store Web are to be accepted
Coupon Acceptance Guidelines
o Acceptance of single coupons over $15.00 requires Supervisor approval
o Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase
o Unless otherwise stated, only one coupon may be presented per item (unless the subsequent coupon is for Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points)
o There is no limit to the number of coupons that can be used in a transaction; however, they cannot exceed the number of products and their respective departments. Coupons may not be combined (“stacked”) together.
o The coupon presented must be for the item purchased (size, flavour, brand)
o If the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the product, the coupon is to be processed as equal to the scanned retail of the product. The difference is not to be given to the customer. Ensure the correct PLU is used depending on whether the coupon is for a free product or value off.
o In the event of a return of a product in which a coupon was tendered, the customer should be refunded the full value of the product before the coupon. Coupons do not need to be returned to the customer.
o Coupons may only be accepted for the exact offer/item on the coupon
o Coupons have no cash value and may not be accepted as a form of tender
o For promotional events (e.g. where a customer would need to spend $50 to receive a reward), the following instances are automatically programmed in ePOS:
If a vendor coupon was used (PLU 2001/PLU 2002), its value will count towards the promotion total meaning the value of the coupons will be included in the event purchase threshold
If a store coupon was used (PLU 2003 and up/PLU 4000 series), its value will be deducted and does not count toward the promotion total meaning the value of the coupons will not be included in event purchase threshold
o For all instances, customers should be issued their receipt for the transaction
Shoppers Optimum Bonus Point Coupons:
o Contains scannable barcode which will award Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points
o Includes Shoppers Drug Mart or Optimum Logo
Vendor Cheques:
o Vendor Cheques must be processed as a Personal Cheque payment
o Cheque must have valid MICR code at the bottom left indicating bank, transit, and account number
o Cheque must have valid expiration date and be presented prior to expiration date
o Cheque may only be used to purchase items or brand specified on the cheque
o Offer should be consistent in all parts of the cheque document
o A Shoppers Drug Mart Gift Card must be given if cheque amount exceeds purchase price

Im disappoint that 2003/2004 don't count anymore!
Those are manager coupons!
Last time I did 20x I had $30 in manager coupons since the 1 store never sells their food fast enough.
I wonder if we will be paying tax on FPC now?Get free gift cards for amazon & paypal. I've earned $100's with the click of my mouse!
