2011 Japan quake "heard in space"

The great Tohoku earthquake in Japan two years ago was so big its effects were even felt at the edge of space.
Scientists say the Magnitude 9.0 tremor on 11 March 2011 sent a ripple of sound through the atmosphere that was picked up by the Goce satellite.
Its super-sensitive instrumentation was able to detect the disturbance as it passed through the thin wisps of air still present 255km above the Earth.

"Ricin" found in letter to US Senator Roger Wicker

A letter containing ricin or another poisonous substance has been posted to a US senator, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said.
The letter was intended for Roger Wicker, a Republican senator representing Mississippi, Mr Reid told the Associated Press news agency.
It was intercepted at a centre handling post for the Capitol in Washington DC, US media report.

Ricin letter found targetting Obama

As part of a tense day in Washington, the FBI reported Wednesday around midday that a second ricin-contaminated envelope sent to a mail processing facility in Washington, D.C. Its intended recipient appears to have been the president. At another point, two Senate office buildings were locked down, one due to a person who apparently was carrying suspicious envelopes.

MIT campus officer shot dead at work

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus police officer was shot and killed Thursday night at the school's campus outside Boston, police said.
Police in Cambridge, Mass., where the school is located, issued a pair of Tweets saying that an officer reported shot around 10:30 p.m. had died.
"Police, DA Investigating Fatal Shooting of Campus Police Officer In Cambridge,'' the department Tweeted.
A Cambridge police officer confirmed the officer was shot but provided no other information.

Police activity at University of New Mexico

UNM police have evacuated the Dental Residency Center and put the nearby UNM Child Care Center under a shelter in place after a suspicious package was found. Details of the type of package are not available.
The package was reported to police at 10:23 a.m., authorities have told KRQE News 13.
Both UNM and Albuquerque police are on the scene.

Not personal towards my liberal friends, i'm digging the man, not your beliefs, I've been told pretty much 95% of pro Obama facebook postings have ended now, makes me glad even those folks are not endeared by this man.

Well he was presented as a sort of spiritual guru type by the media at first, and they sort of kept up this image of him, so most of his voters I don't really blame. But from this point forward, knowing he is like this, I doubt that image he had holds.

It's going to be a long hot summer for this guy. Hope he approves that XL Keystone, so I can get my job over with, move on.
