Thread: Shopping at LD
-
Sat, Feb 19th, 2011, 12:40 AM #1
Today I experienced something new at LD: if my coupons value was bigger than the product's price, the cashier just cut my coupon value ( even for 1 cent). I took a long time to do all calculation as I had many small value coupons for one product. I didn't comment anything but they get back the value of the coupons from manufacturer, right? I was happy anyway, I get some products for free!!!

I get the same thing with a few girls in Langley.
I don't say anything either because I am way better off hen I was before I started all this and I feel bad for them dealing with the headaches all day.
But, it would be nice if there were set standards so the cashiers as well as us shoppers don't feel frusterated or like we are doing wrong at the till.
I feel nervewracked and worry until I am walking out of the store. But still feel pleased with all the thought and organization I put in and what I got.

Me too, I don't feel relaxed until I get out the store.Maybe after a while we'll get over it.

I find it varies from cashier to cashier from day to day. regardless I'm happy b/c I am getting free product. I basically go shopping with the expectation that the cashier will not allow overages so that way if the cashier ends up applying overages then I consider it a bonus!
but yes, if the cashier lessens the coupon value LD will still receive full reimbursement....oh well

I never expect to get overage. I plan my stacks befor I got, add the total before coupons and know what I should be paying before I enter. It usually is a little less then I thought once I get through, unless a product was out and I went a differnet way.
Still very happy though with all this.

I felt bad because she had to calculate everything and substract even a penny. I was very organized, but I tried to get the products for free, for this reason I handed an over value of coupons. Oh, well, I won, LD won.

lol I'm bad that way. I see how many I have, if I have different coupons where I can make a combo another way, even if I have to pay .50 or 1.50 for each combo getting dbl, rather then one set for free.
I have to work harder on not doing that unless I am out and need that item.

I feel the same way.....lol....I kinda feel guilty for getting the stuff for free or almost free. So I sometimes end up just looking for stuff to buy that don't normally have coupons for just so that it doesn't look like I'm there just to buy stuff with coupons....UKWIM? I am getting better at it though...trying to kick the guilt habit and try to stack better.

We can be grateful that she calculated the overage and took it off the coupon (called adjusting down). Some stores will not accept a coupon at all if it is higher than the value of the product. As far as LD getting the full value of the coupon back, I`m not so sure that is the case. When my LD cashier adjusts a coupon down, she crosses out the coupon value and writes in the new, or lower actual amount the coupon was used to cover.

I use my "free" stack coupons for items I donate (fem hygene, deoderant, razors, toothpaste) I sometimes have overages of under .50, but when I point out that the coupons state taxes included in face value of coupon, they put em through. I do all my stacks with the same couple people though, and a) they know I donate and b) they know I used to work with them, so I am familiar with the coupon policy.
Not that I really care about shaving that extra penny off my bill, but it saves checkout time, and LD does get reimbursed for full value, regardless of if they wrote .99 on the front.
