I went to Ld with my superstore, shoppers, and Walmart ads in hand for the first time this weekend. My coupons were limited to ones that I was able to accumulate over the last couple of weeks since I just got turned on to the magical world of coupons. I was able to buy about $160 worth of stuff for just under $5 before taxes. You sure notice the HST when it is 2/3 of what you pay. Can't wait to get more coupons.

You did great for your first time. Good job!!
You're right the tax is a killer.
Maybe you can keep reading the posts and find other LD's further away that work better, including some of the tax with coupons.
I've heard there ar a few within about 45 mins from where I live.
Once I get into this mor, I may save my trips, going less but planning better and hitting those stores instead.

You did good! I'm looking forward to my trip to Alberta in April where I'll get to check out an LD store for the first time!

Way to go, that is awesome!!
The LD in Gibson has great staff. I love shopping there........ since rediscovering this forum, I have save so much money with free or next to free with tax paid.
Even though I am an hour away up in Garden Bay house sitting till mid March, I have managed to combine a few trips into town to take advantage of the sales.
I was there on Friday in Sechelt SDM, and bemoaning the fact that I was there on the wrong day. Had to go to the Clinic to get my lungs checked out, sure enough I have pneumonia starting again.so was in SMD getting my prescription...bleck!!
My boyfriend walked past the dairy section just before we were going to leave and saw that they had already marked down the butter to 2.99....whoo!! At least I got those on this trip.

Oooooh! Great savings! I too wish I could shop at LD. I love to read everyone's deals/brags from there. No LD's here in Ontario
