I saw this huge sign at a party supply store. I was wondering, would people actually put this on their lawn?

Is it for the lawn? Seems a little weird, I can imagine at a party/shower after the birth having it posted in the party room?

I wouldn't, because I don't see the point. Seems like more of an indoor decoration for a baby-welcoming party/post-birth shower.
But people who wouldn't put the details... If it's for a privacy reason and not just that you don't figure you need to put it on a sign, birth announcements in the paper have details.
"Jane Mary Doe was born to parents Jim Doe and Anne Doe on Tuesday, May 23 2012 at 2:32 PM, weighing 6 pounds 8 oz and 22 inches long"
If people are like I DON'T WANT TO GIVE ALL THAT INFO, PRIVACY N SUCH, that's a little silly. What are they gonna do, steal your baby's SIN with their birth weight?

In a small town maybe, in big city probably not! But I have seen just "it's a girl" or "it's a boy" signs before on lawns.

Don't think so.
It 's too much information for those who may want to do harm to the baby.
Maybe a little paranoid of me but, these days, better safe than sorry.

To each their own, I guess. I, for one, will totally not be buying one. It seems like something my inlaws might buy for their own lawn, though (they're probably gonna go a bit overboard, lol)
I don't make a big deal about the fact that I'm pregnant or the impending baby; heck, my bosses at work don't know yet, neither does anyone who is not a close friend or who hasn't asked me point blank on seeing me turn green when I smell chicken or something like that. It'll be obvious soon, but DH and I are not big on attention, so would never dream of doing the newspaper announcement or a lawn sign or anything like that. Really, having a baby is a big deal to the expecting parents and their close friends and family, but to everyone else it's nothing interesting or important.

If people are afraid of privacy, then they would not be putting a sign up, I guess. Me, I did not go to this extreme. I have seen them however.

My SIL had a sign like this for a baby shower she hosted after the baby was born (the new mom lived away from family and came home to visit and show off her baby and they had a shower for her). But they do live in the country so you'd have to drive all the way down their treed driveway to see the sign. Under those circumstances I thought the sign was really cute. Otherwise no I wouldn't buy a sign like that.
But it's really like anything else, if someone will buy it then they will sell it. lol
