Yikes! Sorry you feel so bad. Maybe you'd be better after a few of your special brownies?
LF: Chapman's ice cream and Dare coupons. DS has a peanut allergy so it's the ONLY ones we buy. Lots FT.

Those things are amazing, My daughter can't take birthcontrol pills and the doctor suggested this and now all three of my daughters use them. So much safer than taking all the hormones. Can't figure out why Blue Cross doens't cover them though probobly would be a lot more used if more health care plans covered part of the cost.
Ilove my Mirena IUD....period free for 3 yrs....Last edited by thriftygranny; Sun, Jul 8th, 2012 at 05:08 PM.

I was led to believe that the Mirena does have hormone that are released very slowly for the duration you have it. I have one too and my Blue Cross covered 80% of it, maybe b/c I live in a different province. It is too bad that Blue Cross won't cover it for you. I love my Mirena (highly recommend it), only 2 mores years left on it and already thinking that I might get another. Other than the odd headache or cramping around that 'time of the month' I love it. Plus a box of tampons usually lasts me about 6 months. HUGE savings there...lol.

You are correct about the Hormones they do have a very small amount. My daughter carries a clotting factor that causes her blood to clot easily and bith control could cause her to have a blood clot. The type of hormone in the Mirena is an acceptable amount for her condition, she wouldn't have a lot of options otherwise. She is due for a new one next year so I am hoping that she will get better coverage this time around, I think it depends on the level of Blue Cross you carry as well.

I have heard lots of wonderful things about the Mirena. I also was told that if you haven't already had a child, it can be tricky to get it put in. I've had 2 C sections so apparently it could be difficult and painful to get it.
