I often see lipsticks, eye shadows, lip gloss made in China. They are dirt cheap when you buy them at Superstore, dollar stores etc, but how safe is it?
would you or do you buy it?This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

I don't really look at the label so i only assume its NOT made from china. I know that the body shop uses fairly traded products from Southern Africa??......so not from china

I think most of those makeups have a lot of perfumes and stuff in them...i bought a cheap foundation at the dollar store once for a show and i wanted to scratch my face off through the entire show cause it was so itchy and i ended up breaking out really bad and it smelled like perfume LOL
cant remember where it was made but tossed it as soon as i realized that is what was annoying my skin

ouch. I suppose it wouldn't be worth the risk of skin allergy!
lip moisturizers should be alright? I'm thinking all the NYC stuff are made in China.
There must be some lower costing cosmetics from trusted brands. (L'oreal or vichy? I'm not sure which brands also make affordable cosmetics)

I only buy mary Kay, smashbox or similar type brands..
I have very sensitive skin so...stuff made in China would be suspect for me

I bought one tube lipstick/gloss (the kind with an applicator) by NYC and would never buy anything from them again... the colour was horrible (Think of a brown looking colour you DO NOT want on your lips) and it was lumpy! Ewwwww!

I was having a chat with the Estee Lauder rep at the Bay the other week and we were discussing the made in China cosmetics. Turns out her husband is involved in the oil industry and whenever buyers from China come across they buy up all the cosmetics they can carry because they don't trust the stuff made at home.

i heard that in China they had a skincare line that was product recalled it was called SK-II and there was some form of lead in there that shouldn't have been used.
