UPDATED - SDM is making up policies again

GCs automatically ring up with points. The cashier does nothing special with it. It is up to shoppers to kill the GC points. Not the cashiers the cashiers do nothing special. I can see them getting written up for coupons and there we have to help by watching our dates which I do and making sure we get the proper merchandise, which I also do. There is nothing going on with the gift card right now. Its the cashier.

I agree about the gc -- the points are automatic. But I have seen a lot of cashiers who didn't know how to ring up a gc. Re: the coupons - the manager rang me up on the weekend and I used 3 coupons and he barely looked at them

They told me the same thing at a location here in Montreal, that HO was telling them to stop doing that. She did it anyway, but told me she wasn't supposed to.

The GC rule is fairly new.
I was at SDM today to order my Rx's and there was a lady ard the corner tearing a strip off of the Cashier...
The policy is along these lines:
Basically SDM will NOT be allowing GC Purchases to earn points SPECIFICALLY on Points Promo Days
Whether its a Secret email or a 20x or a bonus redemption/mega redemption b/c of the "ABUSE" (hey not my words)
of certain customers... The will have an amended policy on FB by month's end she believes.
There is also Talk of limiting to 2 bonus point transactions per customer/per offer
IF it is true I can see why the Cashier would've said that today as it is an Email exclusive Bonus Day
Time will tell what happens w/this.

You just use someone elses card. I doubt they would restrict how you shop its how they make there money.

You are NOT supposed to be earning points on GC PURCHASES
and NOT earning 20x on the GC Itself purchases either.

I'm sure it will take some time for all the stores to get on the train for this.
But I know my local Store already has...

Unless there's a policy change happening, I think that person just didn't know (I've had cashiers tell me you don't earn points on GCs, encouraged them to try it and they were surprised). If we weren't supposed to be earning points on GCs, surely they would have fixed it ten years ago?

I don't think it's ever worked for a 20x the points event though, that's nothing new.

Update! I emailed HO, they sent me this and gave me a bonus 4,000 points. I still think I'm done with that particular location though.

These reps know nothing, They told us free product coupons counted. They need to check before they post.

Okay we are talking Shoppers Gift Cards here. You do receive points on a shoppers GC however you do not get points for other GCs and you can not use a shoppers Gift card to buy other gift cards.

I purchased 5,000 $ in GC last year during the promo for GC and always use them to buy everything in SDM, even stamps, lottery tickets, bus tickets, and OTHER GIFT CARDS (Best Buy, Subway, Tim Horton, etc)

I'm going to try a different SDM tomorrow while I'm out and about
I know the one at Polo Park is inflexible!

I've never had a problem with buying gc's for sdm points. The supervisor knows me because I always go in and I have talked to her about it and she said it's fine.
