New Rewards System?

Given the current state of affairs on SC, I don't think he's concerned about rewards right now, although he could use a bit of common sense and be polite enough to just return emails, or have someone do it on his behalf.

What's happening to SC that everyone here's talking about? As for the "rewards", does that include the "reputation" that's under our names? All of a sudden, the little bars under my name went from one green one to a whole ray of green and orange and a star too. What does that all mean? How did that happen? Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask..

Other users are probably talking about 3 mods no longer being mods.


The old rewards were given out based on the number of posts that you've submitted in the forums.

Boo has hinted that the New Rewards System while be geared toward "likes."

The hearts, stars and bars are reps. You collect them when someone decides they think your post deserves a rep and clicks on the bottom left button.

To be brutally honest, I think any rewards system should simply be scrapped completely. I really don't see a purpose of it on a forum at all.

It sets expectations, and then if that expectation is not met in a timely fashion, people become disappointed, and even angry.

I for one can say that I PM'd the person in charge of this previously a number of times, and those PMs were never responded to even though all the info requested was provided (mailing address & all). I qualified for a couple rewards under the 'old' system and not only did I never receive anything, but it was not even acknowledged that something would eventually be sent.

I'm sure there were many others that experienced this as well, so really, it's best to not have a rewards system at all.

There are still some active mods - caring, Jeniana, c_mcarthur are three that I'm aware of.

The thread was announced in a bulletin (on top of the forums) a little while back. I think everyone who requested their gifts by these guidelines received them.

I am betting that Boo has gotten inundated with pm's about the site and whatever happened with Mod's. I am confused, not sure what happened there.

I figure before a new system is rolled out, Boo wants to make sure that there are no kinks in it. The last system a few years ago, which was a cashback rewards system had some big kinks in it. It took close to two years for me to get the cashback that was owed. I imagine that they want to avoid a similar mess-up.

I'd say if two weeks passes and you haven't heard, to message again. And keep with that pattern. I don't know if Boo has an outside job or just runs SC, I just imagine Boo is super busy. I can understand your frustration though.

BTW, what exactly happened with the MOD situation? I am completely out of the loop.
